Nill-Griffe Grip Finish
I just bought a set of Nill-Griffe grips. While they are beautifully made, the finish is so dull as to make the wood look unfinished. I do not wish to alter the finish to the point of devaluing them, but I would like to put something on them that would provide some luster. Does anyone know what they use for a finish? Has anyone else altered their finish? Wax? Tung oil? Modern finish?

Nill-Griffe Grip Finish
I would not mess with them, the oils from your hand will add some luster. Mine don’t look dull but then I don’t really have a discerning eye.

Yours are what I wish mine looked like. Mine are very dull.

A little Arrow Wood Refinish would work for you.
Just remember, you can't put it on too lightly. Anything more than just the lightest hand rubbed coat will take forever to dry.

Go to the Nills Web Site, they sell a small bottle of "Hard Oil" for their grips.

Many years ago I had Mr Hogue make me a set of grips and he told me just use a good wood wax about once a year. The grips were sanded very smooth and there was no actual finish on them.
