Sorry if this is repetitive,newbie here.Model 34,no dash,44000 serial range-stripped down(side plate,crane,cylinder,ejector,extractor) for cleaning,.22's ARE dirty.
reassembling, can't close cylinder.Crane not bent, ejector rod and extractor are clean and straight, cylinder clean and running true.I can't figure what i'm missing and it IS making me a little nuts.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thank you all in advance.

Welcome to the forum.

There's a metal collar on the extractor rod that looks like a top hat; it's installed backwards.

Showing the "top hat" collar installed on the extractor rod, (but not necessarily the way yours should be). Just turn yours around:

Sounds like the center pin in the ejector is not installed correctly. Or the spring for said pin is in the wrong place.

Ok-center pin is installed with the small spring inside the ejector tube section and the center pin is installed with the "ribbed" end away from the ejector. The collar is installed on top of the large spring with the tapered side inside the spring. When i try to assemble, the yoke is forcing the ejector to protrude above the cylinder, which is what keeping it from closing.Any direction as to which way to go next?

EXACTLY what my arrangement looks like EXCEPT the collar @ the top of the spring;mine looks like that collar cut in half.

Right, the BACK half is cut off of yours because you have the "top hat" shaped collar as shown in my post #4. Did you turn it around and put everything back together??? You had the answer to your problem in my post #4, 6 days ago!

When the top hat is in backwards, it lengthens the extractor star shaft which then gets pushed out the back of the cyl. by the yoke when the extractor rod is tightened and the cyl/yoke assembly is installed back into the frame.

You changed no parts so that's the only thing it can be!

bow to those who know...

...and after ALL that, reversing that sleeve was all it took.I truly feel like an idiot.Thank you all once again for all your patience, but at least watching the academically challenged was at least amusing,i hope.I will never again NOT try EVERY combination on my own first!
