I have what I need to mix up a batch, but what type of plastics should I be safely able to store it in?

I'm thinking a plastic lidded tub, like "tupperware" for soaking AR bolts in, and some sort of squeeze bottle.

Any chemist/chemical engineer-adjacent people here know? Mostly concerned by the acetone component.

I'm thinking equal parts Dex III ATF, Kerosene and Acetone.

The only thing that I've found that doesn't allow evaporation during storage, is the jug that previously held kerosene, paint thinner or Pre-mixed fuel. Other containers I’ve tried include; metal cans that previously held gun powder, spray bottles, and Tupperware I had soaked parts in.

Evaporation has left me without any Ed's Red when I needed it. It requires a very tightly sealed container.

These are what you need. $6 bucks. Order several, you will find multiple uses for them.

I think this may just be for bulk purchasing but you can buy individual cans like this at Home Depot, Lowes or Ace Hardware.

If you do without the acetone, the tupperware will work. Glass jars from
pickles, spaghetti sauce, etc work well, even with acetone. You can slosh
the contents around to put acetone back into suspension, just don't go
crazy shaking em with something like an AR bolt or revolver cylinder in
there.

I just mix up small batches at a time and keep it in an old whiskey bottle with a cork.

NEVER use glass. Can you imagine what trouble you can have dropping a glass jar full of this stuff??? Metal cans are, by far the best way to store anything with kerosene and acetone. All plastics will exhibit some form of evaporation loss, some more than others. and some will melt over time in the presence of ketones.

Plastics that are fine for lower distillations of crude oils, but most will dissolve over time. The plastic best suited for storing acetone is Teflon PTFE, FEP, TFE, and PFA). Having said that, acetone is always sold in a metal can.

An empty Windex spray bottle ... Real Windex not store brand or some other glass cleaner .
I have 2 spray bottles with Ed's Red in them now for at least 3 years .
No melting of plastic or spray mecanisim .
I store the rest of my gallon batch in an old metal Marvel Mystery Oil can that has a screw top .
You have to careful of plastic ...my first spray bottle started slowly melting and distorting ... it wasn't a Windex bottle .
You can also buy metal containers online ...many sizes !

Note: The Windex bottles are marked PETE on the bottom and I do use acetone in my ER's mix .

I buy my acetone and kerosene in one gallon cans , then reuse the cans to store the mixed Ed's Red in. Seems to work well, so long as I mark the cans to avoid confusion.

I've kept it for months, maybe up to a year in plastic gallon gasoline containers. No evaporation and no deterioration of the plastic container.

I have plenty of empty liquor bottles around. Glass with a metal cap. Works great on acetone.

Mason jar.....

I've been using an old plastic milk container - no problems over the last year.

You should be able to buy the empty 1-gallon cans at Home Depot or Lowe's. Mark the contents on the front with a Sharpie. Never, ever, put anything toxic or poisonous in an empty drink bottle of any type! It doesn't matter how careful you are, or if you know that nobody but you will ever see it. Someday, somehow, someone will drink it and die, if you do.

I store mine in a VERY well labeled 1 gallon Acetone can.
