Default sticky model 63 cylinder release/opening..

Have a new to me model 63 that has a sticky, hard to open cylinder. After closer inspection, it appears that the spring loaded detent at the end of the ejector shroud catches between the inner part of the ejector rod, and the outer tube portion of the ejector rod.
When I push the cylinder release, the center portion of the ejector rod extends past the tube portion. When I begin to push the cylinder slowly out, I can see the detent move rearward slightly before the whole ejector rod is clear, and that's where the hang up is.
Does this sound like a reasonable assessment of the problem? If so, is this something that will wear in, or should some other measures be taken.
Hopefully I'm clear enough on my explanation. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Edit: When I close the cylinder, I can see that the detent catches once on the tube portion, then again when it's closed on the center solid rod portion.

Todd,
If it's hanging up now it will likely get worse. Check to see if you have excessive run out on the ext. rod, or if it is loose.
Also check for end shake on the cylinder, which can contribute to the problem.
There may also be a burr on the end of the extractor rod or on the front locking bolt. You may be able to restore proper function with a little judicious stoning at the front of the ext rod.

Carter,
No end shake, B/C gap is .009" on all 8 holes and E/R is tight. I have a dial indicator gauge, but no current way of making it useful to measure the ER run-out. I do have a black cleaning mat that has some marks on it. I set the gun up level, spun the cylinder while keeping the E/R on a small piece of fuzz on the mat in the background. I spun it several times and it seemed very true, so I don't think that it's out of alignment or bent.
It seem's to be the same on every hole, and maybe getting a bit better with numerous opening/closing on each cylinder hole. I also noticed some metal shavings inside the E/R shroud, which would suggest it just might need to be broke in a bit more.
I think I will try a small bit of stoning on the front of the E/R.
Thanks for the help.
