Default DLC or PVD coating services for S&W revolvers?

Hello everyone

I'm looking to have my 36-1 DLC or PVD coated. It was a "Gunsmith Special" I rescued from my LGS and repaired. It quickly became my favorite carry gun and I'd like to have it refinished.

I really like the DLC finish on the Night Cobra my girlfriend has commandeered, looking for something similar for the 36.

Any recommendations?

Google is your friend. simply do a search on the Internet! Who did the DLC on the gun your GF has?

Lots of places doing DLC/PVD for semi autos; not as many for revolvers. I'd reach out to Gemini Customs -- they offer this for revolvers.

Thank you.

I did a Google search and was unable to find a company that offered their services for revolvers.

Was also hoping to get some feedback if anyone here had personal experiences having this performed.

Gemini doesn't do the DLC in house (very few places do), but they can handle all aspects of prepping the revolver and sending it to their vendor and making sure everything's done correctly for a revolver. (Also any tuning while it's with them, if you choose. They're one of the few remaining great shops that really know wheel guns.)

This approach is to me better than trying to deal directly with a DLC vendor. Many don't take piecemeal work on firearms anyway, and some who do don't really know firearms and mistakes get made.

Stick with a firearm-focused shop that knows what they're doing.

Yes it does, and it isn't easy. All the sheen is in the metal prep underneath, not the DLC itself (you can't polish DLC directly).

But you have to get the DLC done quickly after polish; even with a little normal oxidizing of the steel the DLC will come out matte.

DLC on well-prepped and polished steel comes out almost looking liked a deep, dark blued gun, but with far superior durability compared to blue.

Yup. The SR1911 has a high polish and looks great. The SR9C has much more of a matte finish and looks good but not as great.
