Default Mod. 41 - Slide issues

Howdy,

I am hoping someone can advise me. I have a 1979-1980 S&W Model 41 wherein I am having trouble getting the slide to release from the frame. This is the first time I came across this, so i did not want to "force it" ... I am hoping I am doing something stupid simple/missing with this process. My other #41's have a slide that comes off almost too easy when disassembling. This one, the absolute opposite.

I have taken pictures of how far back I can move the slide before the spring is at maximum compression. It may be that it is not coming back far enough?

Thoughts?

Pull down on the front of the trigger guard while moving the slide to the rear.

^^^ The trigger guard needs to be folded down towards the grip to release the locking lug holding the barrel in place. Pull it down from the front edge. It can be a bear sometimes.
