S&W 41 magazines

Lock the slide back & try the non-ejecting mag. Look down to see it the mag follower is hitting the slide release correctly?

Compare both mags side-by-side, looking for the aforementioned difference in mag bottom width.

Good luck!

I have had my fill of experience with new Model 41 magazines. Since I shoot my M41 so much, I decided to buy some extra mags for it about 5 years ago. I bought 6 new ones and not one fit or worked properly. I spoke to S&W and they replaced all 6, but the replacements were no better. I sent them all back for a refund. The representative told me in no uncertain terms, "old M41's do not pay well with new magazines" - he was not kidding! He suggested I find vintage magazines on eBay, which I did. While they were quite a bit more expensive every one I bought worked 100%.

IMHO, if you have an older M41 and want extra magazines, buy a few on eBay. They are much better built, will last a lifetime and will work every time. Money well spent!

Pretty pathetic that an American Company that sells an $1,800.00 target pistol can no longer make magazines to fit and work properly in it.

HINT: Get the ones with the metal follower!
