I have measured the length of the pinned round blade. It's the same as a Model 1901 Forehand .32 that I have and needs a sight. The H&A isn't pinned and the width is more than the S&W 2nd model. A dime is closer to the circumference, yet still a tad large and a penny, as well, will drop in w/width room to spare. I thought about taking an old 14K band and beating it into submission and it crossed my mind that someone might have an idea or two. Oh yeah, I had no intention of using a forge, it just sounded like a snazzy title. I don't know anything about working Gold except that it's very malleable, less so w/varies alloys. I have no worry about placing it on a fairly large square of Iron and shaping it flat w/4lb mini sledge. What I'd like to be able to accomplish is to mimic the rail of the barrel, same as the mod 2, so the top of the site would be flat the full length giving the RR rail look matching the brl rail. The brl rail looks like an I-beam w/bottom cut off.
Sumpthin' different. Figured I'd epoxy the sight in place coz if I ever do get it close I wouldn't wish to beat it into a snug fit or heat the brl for a pressed fit. Two-ton epoxy is fairly heat resistant. Besides, the brl rail would act as a heat sink/radiator.
I know I'm quite mad...
