Have you tried putting in an EMPTY mag and pulling back on the charging handle just to test it. It should hold the bolt back on an EMPTY mag. DISCLAIMER: Please make sure your mag is EMPTY before putting in the rifle.

Out of battery(OOB), do a search for it. Its likely NOT the ammo's fault. A lot of these rifles need to have the ejector adjusted properly. Once I adjusted mine I have not had any issues. You most likely blew out your extractor and you will likely need to send it back to S&W and they will fix...
