    A S&W in the Sought After 32-20

Congrats! From what I see on nearby serials, that one likely shipped in late 1910 or early 1911.

38 M&P, So Many Red Flags

Looks good to me. The stocks are are post War. Pre-war stocks would have had sharp Corners around the checkering.

    1921 Second model target

No. That's not true. I said the screws were the same...at least in 1909. The rear leaf is different to accommodate the different frame sizes. The leaf had two screws until the late 1920's when the elevating screw and top strap slot was changed and a 3rd locking screw was added.

    1921 Second model target

Gary means a picture of the gun, not the screw. He wants to see the top of the top strap where the rear leaf goes.

    1921 Second model target

I don't know if this helps, but I have a S&W Screw Chart from 1909 that shows the I, K and N frame "sight elevating screw" was the same on all 3 models. Of course, it could have changed between 1909 and 1926. However, if you have a machinist that can make one, here are the dimensions. Diameter...

1932 for the N frame adapter. 1934 for the K frame.

    1917 is on its way!

Per US Military Dates of Manufacture, it was made in January 1919.

22/32 build date? Was I correct?

Those serial numbers are far below .22/32 HFT's made in the 1920's. I suspect you are dealing with assembly numbers from the yoke cut which can't be used for dating the gun.

A couple of questions about a Baby Chiefs Special…

I think it is probably best to wait for two-bit cowboy to comment with authority. However, I'm seeing 2" guns with serials near yours that shipped in April-June 1953 with 1st Style flat latch.

My 1922 HE 44 special and 1951 Austin PD pre model 10 UT Austin sniper significance.

WRT the .44 HE Target, the B under the barrel indicates it left the factory blued. On the .38 M&P, the S <> indicates a refinish in standard blue (S Diamond, not SW). The diamond is poorly struck.

    .22/32 Heavy Frame Revolver

So, S&W service work was done in December 1914 (12.14). I don't think we can resolve the mis-stamp unless the barrel is sleeved. IIRC, many records before 1920 were lost or destroyed so a deep dive would likely come up empty. A conundrum, to be sure.

Did S&W make a Grip Adapter for K Frames in the 1930’s?

Hey, Froggie! Here's what they look like on a gun.

    .22/32 Heavy Frame Revolver

That serial number is pretty low for a Bekeart. IIRC, they started around 160K. Could be someone had a .32 HE, wanted a .22 Target revolver and sent it back to S&W to make it so. But, I would expect S&W to replace the barrel, not sleeve it. It is also possible the barrel stamp is a mistake. I...

Did S&W make a Grip Adapter for K Frames in the 1930’s?

Yes, Randy. I had a K frame for sale at the symposium. Still have it.

    .22/32 Heavy Frame Revolver

Take off the grips and post a picture of the left side of the grip frame. It has gone back to S&W for work (* behind the serial on the butt). Could be there were no .22 barrels and S&W used a stamped .32 barrel to replace the original barrel. Is there any indication the barrel was sleeved?
