it looks brand new to me, mine are very smooth and very shiny and are in perfect condition after a heck of a lot mil-surp ammo being put thru them---the wear on the contact areas is totally normal and will become more evident as you put a lot more ammo thru it, as said by others keep it lubed...

I feel reduced recoil most in shorter barreled MAGNUM loaded handguns, the bigger the magnum the more you feel the difference. With barrel porting I have a faster followup shot picture especially with longer barrels. I feel/ see the differences more now as an older shooter, when I was younger...

I load and shoot several calibers and weights of Berry's bullets including 9mm 124 grain that are loaded to +p or +p+ for my 16" ar carbine, they are excellent and group nicely out to 50 and 75 meters. which I think are the optimal distances for any 9mm . if they can do the job at these...

what dnater said... I have had to fit a few myself, no big deal just a fine file and a little trial and error, more then likely the thumb release is not sitting deep enough through the frame opening.
