Just curious if anyone here who partcipated in the spare magazine thread has rethought it after LA riots.

No. The odds of one man being able to hold off a mob with 2 magazines when one wasn't enough is exceedingly small. While I am not going to start carrying a spare magazine I am going to start carrying in places I normally consider safe enough to not carry like my local grocery store. I don't...

How best to sell most of my guns.

Shipping can be expensive. Its been several years since I sold a gun using GunBroker so some of this may have changed. As a non-FFL holder the major carriers like UPS and Fedex will only ship a gun using their most expensive overnight shipping option, about $125. If you go through a FFL on...

FTF with PMC Bronze .38 Special ammo

Happen to know the lot number of that ammo? I have never had a problem with PMC ammo. I recently bought a 900 round case of this ammo after having shot a few boxes I purchased earlier with no issues. I normally take a FIFO approach to ammo but am going to pull a box out of one of the "battle...

    Alternative to .38 Special Recoil

The OP is already shooting 38s through a 4" Colt Trooper and 2.75 inch Ruger. It doesn't sound like size and weight is an issue. If he did decide to switch to a semiauto something larger like a S&W 380 EZ would be a better choice. As the name implies it is specifically designed to be easy to...

Wadcutters were developed for target revolvers with LONG barrels

Wadcutters haven't changed, the guns people shoot them in has. It used to be wadcutters were both designed and used for target shooting. These days they are often used in lightweight snubbies due to the low recoil and precision target shooting with a revolver is a thing of the past for most...

    Alternative to .38 Special Recoil

Before you buy a new gun try some 148 grain wadcutters. They really do have less recoil and 38 ammo is less expensive and easier to find than 32. If you are currently shooting an alloy frame 38 and can carry the extra weight a steel frame gun like a model 60 would help too. Just make sure you...

    S&W Model 41 Reliability

I would describe mine as finicky but worth the trouble. I bought it in the mid-nineties and it had to go back to the factory after it locked up on its first trip to the range which is rare. (Unless you replace the factory recoil spring with one from Wolff and install it backwards. Mine had...

    Cleanest Generic 22 Ammo

If by generic you mean inexpensive bulk ammo give CCI Blazer a try. In terms of being clean burning I cannot see any difference between Blazer and CCI standard velocity. Lead bullets will produce more fouling that plated ones though. My 22 revolver develops sticky extraction with any ammo...

    .21 Sharp???????

Given how popular 10mm is these days if the Winchester 45 magnum was a new cartridge instead of an old, dead one it would probably take off. The number of people that want and will buy a gun for bear defense is much higher than the number of people that actually need one. The 45 magnum is much...

Shield Plus slide not locking back on empty 10 round magazine.

My Shield Plus also came with a dead front sight and 3, 13 round magazines that would not lock the slide back. Wish I had thought of reversing the spring, would have saved me the hassle of send the magazines back.

Do you carry a spare magazine?

Malfunctions do happen but even the small micro 9s of today are reliable enough that I am going keep carrying without a spare. Given my lifestyle the odds of my needing to defend myself are so low the real question for me is whether or not to carry any gun, not how much gun or how many spare...

Do you carry a spare magazine?

I don't. My P365 has enough capacity I do not feel I need a spare magazine. One less thing to carry and less time practicing. No need to practice changing magazines if you do not carry a spare. A couple of my friends feel well protected with a 5 round 38 Special J-frame or LCR. But others...

    Ultra Reliable Sub-Compact 9mm

I bought a PM9 shortly after they came out. It was very reliable for about 250 rounds then it started dropping magazines due to the polymer mag catch on the early models. Kahr sent me the metal part they replaced it with and the gun was reliable for about 500 rounds at which point it started...

    Woods Carry 357 Search

TLDR: Carry what you feel comfortable with but don't worry too much about the animals here. North Georgia is not Montana or Alaska. In 30 years of hiking in north Georgia I have seen some black bears, wild boar/feral pigs but have never seen or heard of anyone else seeing a big cat. The...

YouTube scam videos are flooding the net now

The AI voice overs have been around for a while. A lot of the historical or WW1/2 content I see is from Europe and if the creator uses an AI voice over so I do not have to struggle with a strong accent that is fine. My tastes in videos are apparently too boring for YouTube to show me the sort...

    Selecting One Rimfire Brand

My CZ 452 shoots CCI SV very well and it is very accurate in my S&W 41 and 617. Unfortunately it lower power makes it marginally unreliable in the 41 and 22 Compact I own. And due to the tight chambers in the cylinders of my 617 revolver like all lead ammo extraction gets very sticky after...

    BG 2.0 'night sight'

When I bought my Shield Plus a few years ago I didn't realize the front sight was dead until I got home with it. I called customer service and they sent me a new one. If you are OK with the factory sight except for its not being as bright as it should be calling S&W is a zero cost option.

    .21 Sharp???????

The 21 Sharp might have won by default. If not the 21 Sharp what should have won the "Ammunition product of the year" category? Not a whole lot going on in terms of ammo recently. I might have nominated brass case 9mm selling for less than $.24/round again but that's not really anything new.

    Shield Plus Optics Ready

When I bought my Shield Plus it came with night sights, is optics ready and did not have a red dot installed. It also came with 3 additional 13 round magazines and a bag. It was marketed as a "bug out bag" which I found gimmicky but the price was less than than the gun with the usual magazines...
