342PD - is it scandium frame or not?

I've heard it plenty of times myself that the PD means it's titanium cylinder and scandium frame. That's true of most all PDs except the 342, I believe. Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk

342PD - is it scandium frame or not?

Are you replying to me? I was only pointing out that AirLite doesn't always mean scandium. My 342PD is product code 163816. SCSW lists it as 1-7/8" 5SH BK RB FS SG IL RR PD Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk

I think you meant stainless cylinder. ;) My 386Sc/S is scandium frame and stainless cylinder. Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk

342PD - is it scandium frame or not?

All AirLites have the atom symbol but if you count the actual atoms, the scandium guns have 21 and the Ti guns (just a titanium cylinder) have 22. Per the periodic table. Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk

Mine has an upgraded XS Big Dot, but it did come with the traditional red ramp. No blast shield either here. Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk

342PD - is it scandium frame or not?

I've read just about every thread on the subject and there doesn't seem to be any definitive answer. Most of the knowledged folks tend to agree that the scandium frames didn't come out until the 340PD, but some guys say that they started using scandium in all the PDs in 2001. One gentleman notes...

    Pre-lock 342PD

Interesting. Mine was test fired in '04 so I expect it to be around that vintage. It has the visible titanium pins but no flame shield.

    Pre-lock 342PD

btw, the 342 is aluminum frame, titanium cylinder. They didn't start using scandium in the frame until the 340PD.

    Pre-lock 342PD

I just bought one on GB for $600 a few days ago. I don't feel like I overspent but I just now looked at completed listings and they seem to be going for closer to $500. Heck, check out this one that sold 2 months ago for $505 with CT grips! Talk about a score! It was an actual auction (not Buy...

Here's the scoop getting you LTC in Texas.

Can you explain your logic that a IWB holster that secures onto a belt is not a belt holster? Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk

    M&P 340 Hoppes? Oiling internals??

Lawyer talk. I use ammoniated Brakleen to clean my guns, even the polymer ones. Just keep it off the wood and everything is fine. Lube with Ballistol afterward. Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk

The only thing I lube on my 340 is the cylinder yolk and ejector rod. Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk

    20 Gauge For Home Defense?

With your pistol extended in a normal firing stance, the muzzle extends as far as the muzzle on my shotgun. Maneuverability is moot. I can pull the shotgun in to a low ready or "hip fire" stance if needed. Yes reloading a shotgun requires two hands. Last I checked, so does a handgun. Shotgun...

    20 Gauge For Home Defense?

I use a 12ga pump with 00buck for home defense, but certain would not feel poorly armed with a 20ga. It will kill them just as dead. Great choice for HD for someone recoil sensitive or maybe a gun shared with your wife and/or young children. Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk
