    "New" 686 at last...

I would trade the 6 before the 4 but that is sentimental more than anything. I am a big fan of S&W revolvers but I think the L Frame is my favourite. Andy

    Mod-10 3" tapered barrel,Shipped July 1959. Outdoor pictures. Better?

Ahhhh the "Plastics" ..... because they look like Police but that is about it...they may also melt in the heat... ;) It is (mostly) all in good fun :) The AFP most easily equate to the FBI in the US. The "standard" Army sidearm is still the Browning HP. SASR and 2Cdo Rgt are however issued...

    Mod-10 3" tapered barrel,Shipped July 1959. Outdoor pictures. Better?

I know of some from here that made their way back. As I said NSWP was the agency that spec'ed them that way out here, AFP and some other NSW Agencies bought them that way but I don't think it was used by any other state. QLD used 3 inch square butt M36s, Victoria and WA used 4 inch M10s and SA...

    Mod-10 3" tapered barrel,Shipped July 1959. Outdoor pictures. Better?

There were some failures with the early rounds, 148gn FMJ RN, in the 80s a change was made to a Winchester 110gn +P JHP and for the last few years a Winchester 147gn +P JHP was issued. Andy

    Mod-10 3" tapered barrel,Shipped July 1959. Outdoor pictures. Better?

I know exactly what happened to them mate, with the exception of a few for museums and display they were all shipped (along with some 36s, 60s and 64s and all the spare parts) to a steel works just south of Sydney and dropped into a smelter... :( There are still some in service with the other...

I am sure you know the insert is not original. I have handled literally THOUSANDS of model 10s in that exact configuration. From 1966 the NSW Police started issuing them to their recruit classes (the man nearest to a father to me was on the first class to be handed them) and ended up with 14K +...

Nice -3 mate, it is a close cousin to mine. What serial number prefix does it have (just out of interest). My two at BDT (the 4) and BPH (the 6). Andy

    Second Smith, an L-frame..

I think the 6inch 586 is about the best looking of the L frame revolvers... :) I would LOVE one but with the amount of use I give mine a 686 makes much more sense. Beautiful mate, just beautiful. First handgun I EVER fire was a 586, that would be around 1983 or 84. It was one of the very...

    OZ Revolvers in USA ?

Oh yeah...the SA traded revolvers are unmarked so it will be hard to decide what is from here and what is not.

    OZ Revolvers in USA ?

Not a great pic but here are a few... ;) My personally owned is at the bottom and my issued is second from the top. The personal one is gone now thanks to the change in laws out here in 2002. There are still a few of them soldiering on with some agencies here (Corrections and Govt Security...

    OZ Revolvers in USA ?

....states, territories, Federal and various jurisdictions are all different here. Glock 17s were first issued to the Australian Federal Police (agents only not their community Policing sections). The Protective Services arm of AFP were issuing USPs at one point. Now as far as I know there are...

Austrailian Smith & Wesson model 66s

....they have all now been shipped from here I believe. Some will be NIB some will have seen some use but not a great deal. I am not 100% but I think SA did a complete update of their 66s in the last 10 years. Andy
