BTW. The box the boots came in, has an eight inch in diameter S&W logo. I cut it out and mounted it on the face of a clock. IMHO it looks pretty cool.

True. But, the trade off is free shipping and no sales tax.

I believe the theory is that you can tighten or loosen the laces to your comfort. Then, you don't have to mess with them, tying and untying. Just use the zipper and you consistently have the proper fit. Plus, you can wear them and take them off in a matter of seconds.

I have used Birchwood Casey Plum Brown. It produces a rust finish. It's not that difficult and if done properly, looks pretty good on older guns. Basically, you remove the blue finish; smooth out all surfaces with steel wool or a grey scotch brite pad; heat the metal with a torch or heat gun...
