    Model 66-2 or 686 Plus ???

If starting from scratch I'd probably vote 686+, but like others I wouldn't trade a nice 4" 66-2 for one! You'll want that 66-2 back some day and they don't make them anymore! Use the 66-2 for now, save your money and get a 686+ in the near future!

    28-2 vs 686 choice

I don't think anyone has mentioned what, to me at least, is the biggest advantage of the L-frame 686 over the N-frame 28, and that is grip size/trigger reach. Unless you have larger than average hands I think it is a little harder to grip and properly pull a double action trigger on an N frame...

    10 mm Commander - pics

I'm a big fan of the 10 mm round. I have several 5" 1911s in 10mm that are great shooters but always wanted a Commander length model for carry. I've had two of the Dan Wesson bob-tail Commanders and both had similar feeding problems that couldn't be solved with gunsmith tinkering so they were...

The "I scratched my gun thread"......

My story isn't as sad as yours because it involves a gun that was already re-finished. But I spent good money getting this 681 PC refinished in Robar's NP3. Even posted a thread about it: http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-revolvers-1980-present/400782-refinished-681-pc.html It looked nice until...

FOUND, please close. 4" 686-4 plus

This one may be a long-shot as I don't know how many of these are even out there...I haven't seen many! If anyone has a 4" 686-4 plus (7-shot) model that they would be interested in selling let me know! Not interested in other barrel lengths or engineering changes at this time, and yes I'd...

    .45lc vs .357

No doubt the 45 colt is plenty effective for self defense, but IMO the 357 mag is a whole lot more practical and probably just as effective. There are just SO many more good carry options in 357 mag, as mentioned, ammo is cheaper and more plentiful, you can shoot 38 specials (also a stellar SD...

    3" K-frames

Google Model 65 Ladysmith Alpo, or check one of the many threads on here about them. They are shrouded which is the main thing differentiating them from regular model 65s.

    3" K-frames

Thanks to jjbrews1 I recently acquired a 3" 65-5 Ladysmith to add to my accumulation. I swapped out the stocks to something a little more shooter-friendly than the factory stocks and lined it up with my other 3" k-frames: 13-2, 65-5 bobbed (it isn't pink!...that's the reflection of my red...

I can conceal this with a proper belt and IWB holster. Though I do need a baggy t-shirt.

    Help with Model 57 value

That Gunbroker revolver is nice, but I think the OP's package is worth a few hundred more given the Cokes.

I'm really surprised they sell toy AK47s at Disney!

    Help with Model 57 value

Those Cokes alone are worth $400-500. I think the package could get $1100-1200, maybe more to the right buyer.

Do you still have your first handgun, do you still have it?

I really wish I did. It was a 6" 586 and I foolishly sold it in the early 90s before I knew what sentimental value it would hold now! I've replaced it with others much like it, but they are not the "first"!
