Would You Pay More for a Unique Serial Number?

Some guys are saying 33333 is not "unique", that all numbers are unique. Maybe I should have used a different term, like different or cool, but you know what I mean. The bottom line is people are willing to pay a little more for a "cool" or meaniful number to them. The question is how much is...

Would You Pay More for a Unique Serial Number?

The local 33333 numberd gun will cost $1080 out the door. For purchase online after shipping and transfer, about $980. So about $100 difference, or 10% more for the cool number. As others said, buying it locally allows me to inspect the gun first, although it is new with warranty. Also don't...

Would You Pay More for a Unique Serial Number?

I didn't find much searching the internet on unique serial number value. Most others agree it's worth a little more depending on the gun. I did find however that Smith &Wesson gave J. Edgar Hoover a model 19 with S/N 333333. Interestingly the Colt I'm looking at is also all 3's.

Would You Pay More for a Unique Serial Number?

I've been looking for a new Colt Delta Elite 10mm and came across one at a local store with serial number 33333. Their price is about $80 more than I can get one online for. I'm not sure if it's worth the extra $80 compared to an online price. I did account for shipping, tax, and transfer...

    Shield 40 or 9

I have the Shield 40 and love it. I've shot other 40's and to me the Shield handles the 40 very well. I'm amazed at my speed and accuracy with this gun. I reload both 9 and 40, so ammo cost isn't an issue. I agree the 9mm is a good round these days and with the MagGuts upgrade, the extra 2...

    My $650 Shield

Got my orange dot sight on eBay from ecop, $136.

    My $650 Shield

Just bought the Trijicon HD night sights for my Shield 40. I ended up having to buy the MGW sight pusher tool also. Tried a brass punch but couldn't move the sights. Even with the sight pusher tool I had to crank pretty hard. So between the tool and the sights, it was about $250. I love the...

What's Your Short Barrel .40 Carry Ammo?

I have the Shield 40 and love it, but not sure on the carry ammo to use. I like light and fast, so have been carrying the 155 Gold Dots. However, I chrono tested them and they are around 1080fps for my 3.1" barrel. That's only 389 ft-lbs. My 3" Kahr in 9mm gets over 400ft-lbs with +P+. Sometimes...

    Is the .40 dead?

I agree on the Shield 40. I shoot it better than any of my 9mm's.

    Holster for the shield

My favorite holster after trying several high end ones is the High Noon Topless. Its an OWB holster but conceals very well. Very comfortable and well made. They have 22% off until Sept 28 too. Never seen them on sale before. I have a crossbreed too but feel it's too much holster for such a...

Concealed carry holster for us big/fluffy guys

Yeah just lose some weight and you'll be fine, LOL. If that doesn't work, I love the PJ Holsters for IWB or the High Noon Topless for OWB. High Noon will take several months to get, but worth the wait.

Striker riding sear causing light strikes?

Just a follow up on my Shield 40 failing to fire about 1 in 10 rounds, all hand loads. I removed the striker and cleaned it and have had zero failures since. The striker wasn't that dirty. I've shot over 100 hand loads from the same batch and no failures. Some other thought the hand loads...

Heavy Loads for the Shield 40

Heavy Loads for the Shield 40

Yeah, what started me looking for a little more velocity was the gel test I saw where the gold dot failed to expand all the way. The 3.1" Shield barrel loses 130fps or so from the 4" barrel. I just wanted to get the velocity closer to what the bullet was optimally designed for (1200fps). I...

7 or 8 rd. Mag in your Shield 9 for CCW?

I carry the 8 rd almost all the time. It conceals fine for me and I like having the extra round and full grip. The 7 rd does feel smaller though and less likely to get caught on something like a chair back. It depends how it fits you in your holster setup. Try the 8 rd and see if it's ok for...

Heavy Loads for the Shield 40

Thanks Skeet. Yes it's for concealed carry only. 500FPE was my goal, so will stay with 8.7gr at the most. May even go a little lower. I'd be happy with 450FPE even. Will have to see how it shoots and what's most accurate.

    Bullet Puller

I use the Hornady cam-lock press mount puller. Works extremely well and fast. I have only tried it on 40S&W. Couldn't imagine using a kinetic hammer after using this.

    Powder measure choice

I've also been using the Deluxe Pacific powder measure for 30 some years. Still works great.

Heavy Loads for the Shield 40

That was my thoughts too until I saw a gel test done with denim, with the Shield and factory 155gr gold dot. The bullet failed to expand well at 1065fps. My own basic water jug test shows good expansion but not quite full normal expansion with factory gold dot. The other issue I have is I can...

Heavy Loads for the Shield 40

Just curious what others have come up with for a good heavy self defense load in the Shield 40. I tested the factory 155gr Gold Dot and averaged 1070fps, 394ft-lbs. I did some extensive testing with Longshot and Power Pistol to try to get 1200fps out of the Shield. 1200fps is what that bullet...
