    Model 27-2 resurrection

Thanks for all the kind comments. I am very pleased with the way this turned out. It's hard to believe looking at the before pictures but there was no serious pitting on the pistol prior to refinish and absolutely no evidence of anything after refinish. Here's a picture of the finished product...

    Model 27-2 resurrection

I will definitely be shooting it and the cost for high polish blue from S&W is $250.00. I've got a set of no bark stags from Grashorn and a Tyler T Grip waiting at home for her also.

    Model 27-2 resurrection

I had posted on an earlier thread about a beat up 27-2 5" that I had picked up and a discussion ensued about the merits of refinishing it or not. I just received it back from S&W and I'll let the before and after pictures speak for themselves. Before After

    Carry Ammo for 2.5

A big +1 on the Speer Gold Dot. I recently attended a ballistic shoot and the .38 +p Gold Dot was one of the rounds tested. It passed all of the FBI protocal tests including shooting through auto glass out of a 2" J Frame. Being a bonded bullet it also retains most of its weight after expansion.

    Got my Tyler T's today.

+1 for LC'92 statement above. I finally received my polished T-Grip for an N Frame this week also. It was ordered back in Jan. or Feb. and I had written this order off when I heard about all the trouble several months ago. I ended up buying a used T-Grip and paying the jacked up prices. And...

WTB or WTT for Tyler T Grip for S&W N Frame

I'm looking to buy or trade for a Tyler T Grip for a S&W N Frame. I would prefer a polished one but will consider any. I have for trade: Parts for M1 Garand Parts for AR-15 Ammo in various calibers to include: 380 ACP 38 Spec. 40 S&W 44 Mag 223 7.62x39

    Model 27-2 Question

Believe it or not, it's not as bad as it looks in the pictures. The finish is shot but the metal is smooth and no gouges or pitting. The action is tight as a drum and everything operates smoothly. I've shot several boxes of .38's and a box of 357's through it and it is very accurate. I also have...

    Model 27-2 Question

Sorry it took so long but here are some pictures of my 27-2 and the reason that I would like to refinish it.

    Model 27-2 Question

Thanks guys. I am primarily a collector of 20th Century US Military Rifles and in that arena, I am definitely a no refinish guy. I would also be very against refinishing anything I would consider a rare collectible. That being said, I'm currently working on my retirement gifts to me (I've...

    Model 27-2 Question

Thanks for the reply. I'll try and post some pictures later but, the finish is pretty bad. I would usually pass on something with a finish like this but it was a Model 27 5" which I've always wanted, the action is still tight as a drum and the price was very right.

    Model 27-2 Question

I've always been a fan of the S&W Model 27's especially the 3 1/2" and 5" guns. I recently purchased a blued 5" Model 27-2 sn# N374xxx with a very worn finish and have two questions. 1. What year was it manufactured. 2. Where is the best place to have a nice high polish blueing done. Thanks...
