Looks like the 15 with adjustable target sights. I used them in the Air Force only they were not nickel. For a short barrel they were accurate.

28's with 6" barrels are great for hunting, you can go through the briers and not worry about the finish. The same scenario with a 27 would be unthinkable in my opinion. Ex Law Enforcement Security Police, the Model 15 was the best pistol either in 2" or 4" barrel. They were accurate at 25 yards and shot expert many times with both. Would like to find any surplus 2" barrel but doubt it is possible. Rickenbacker AFB, Clark AB, Camp O'Donnell, Crow Valley...

Model 28 My first Mod 28 was the best revolver I have ever shot, worst thing I ever did was sell it. 35 years later I just acquired a Mod 28 with a 6" barrel someone did a nickel plating job on it though, must be why the price was so good. ser. # S225016

Pix I bought the weapon in June of 1974 new in the box. Paid $135 for it then and wish i still had it. I just picked up a 28 w/6" barrel but nickel plating. Serial# S225016 circa 1961 to 1962.
