Model 1917 45acp at my local FFL

$800. is about half price for that one. Waste no time to get back and bring it home. (I am assuming that the bore looks as good as what you have shown us.) I have seen much worse condition sell for more.

What gun can I get to go with these old grips?

It is hard for me to tell what they fit without any reference for the 'size'. Pictures with a ruler, front and back would help me figure it out. Perhaps others can make an educated guess without more information.

Sold/Withdrawn Sight Adjustment Tool - SAT - $120. to your door in USA

SAT is post-war, in excellent condition - 9 rows. 3 5/8" overall length. Please see the pictures, they show the exact tool you will receive. I tried to show all sides so you can can judge the condition. I will say that it has seen very little use and has not been touched-up or enhanced...

Tricks for reading serial numbers on Stocks (grips)

Good tips above! They work well on boxes, too. Here is an example where I fiddled around with contrast and other settings. First is pretty much as the naked eye would see it; second is after fiddling with settings. Both done on an i-phone . The number is 101 with a 'J' above it. I have seen...

38 Special & 12 Gauge, a beautiful couple from the roaring thirties, publish your breathtaking combinations

You are finding some nice items in Italy, Marcello. Congratulations on your new additions. I recently added a 1941 20" Winchester '97 to my collection too. It was used to support the war effort here in the USA.

    DSC

This is an old thread, but I have a new related question. With respect to the Defense Supplies Corporation (DSC), does anyone have information related to DSC records, such as what was shipped through the DSC to whom and when? I ask this because I recently acquired a Winchester Model 1897 that...

    38 Combat Masterpiece

Very nice find. It is a attractive piece. The wood block belongs there. It was a factory way to make a 4" barrel fit well in a 6" barrel box. Nice 'plus' IMHO. Does the box have a number on the bottom in grease pencil/china marker? If so, does it match the SN of the gun?

    1955 Terrier

OP, yours turned out nicely! I usually follow the polish with a couple coats of RenWax. Here's my 1955/1956 Terrier. (Somehow the wrong box got in the picture!)

Guess I am now a member of the pre-Chief target club

No sooner did I buy mine several years ago they began popping up for sale every week. So many in fact that it is hard to believe that only about 600 Ashland target Model 60's were made.

Guess I am now a member of the pre-Chief target club

That gun sat for quite a long time at $3K, which IMHO was at least three times what I would value it at...... The listing reflects that the sale was at $895., a much more reasonable price point. Congratulations to the OP. Patience payed off.

    need help dating a terrier

    Two-Bit hit the target squarely. My Terrier #66971 shipped 4-16-1952, It is a 38/32, pre-model 32, improved I-Frame 1st version, 5-screw. Another of mine, #57103 shipped likely September 1950, is a post-war transitional with six-screws. If yours has six-screws, it is a post-war transitional...

    Again? Toilet paper shortages?

They may be a sky-is-falling diatribe spouting mass, but they smell better than the previous group and have a lot less anal irritation.

    Giving Revolvers a Go

Welcome to the Forum from Pennsylvania. I am addicted to S&W snub nose revolvers made 1940's through the 1950's, but EDC a 1970's Mod 649.

    Fiocchi - Good or Bad?

Fiocchi brand has always been well respected within my circle of shooting friends. Many, including myself, would choose it first. S&B runs a close second.

    Let's see your "I" frames!

I am glad to see this thread resurface every several years. Nice new things seem to surface each time we revisit it. Since the last time, I have taken a liking to the I-frame Terrier. I have over a half dozen in the stable now. It's hard to pick a favorite, but I will offer up the following...

    M1917 marking questions

I have seen a fair share of 1917's but have not seen the ordnance bomb in that position. There are folks here that know much more than I do, so we will likely learn something together.

    Very Early US 1917

Well done! It pays to do your homework before paying the piper. I have also picked up some gems at auction that were poorly represented, but instinct, knowledge, and hope drove me to get them, and they were nice additions to the stable. You got a nice early one. I have been looking to add...
