Let's see your "I" frames!

Correct. No B. And it may have an N for nickel but not always.

The B or N can also be found on rear face of yoke, on rear face of cyl by itself, behind the extractor star, and on Pre War guns, by itself on right side grip frame on commercial guns.

Here is one I picked up last year from a Pawn Shop.

It does not appear to be reblued (to me), or even fired much. Came with the original red box.

I really like the diamond walnut stocks.

.32 Hand Ejector (Postwar) (Pre-Model 30).

I believe this one dates to approx. 1950.

I haven't shot it, and don't know if I will. The white flecks on the gun are from the (incorrect) wax paper in the box.

That's even earlier than a Pre Model 30, it's a pre Model of 1953; an Improved I frame 5 screw!

8/17/51 #557875 .32 Improved I, is the earliest recorded shipped in my data base.
Smiths didn't ship in serial # order but others #'d near yours shipped as follows:

577553 Shipped on 8/13/52
589413 Shipped on July 18, 1952

my I frame i acquired fairly recently, has been a great ccw and shooter

Year mad

I have a model 35 with serial # 149xx. It is a 22 LR with a 3.5 inch barrel. Trying to find out year made.

I am glad to see this thread resurface every several years. Nice new things seem to surface each time we revisit it.
Since the last time, I have taken a liking to the I-frame Terrier. I have over a half dozen in the stable now. It's hard to pick a favorite, but I will offer up the following:

This one shipped March 20, 1939 pretty much as you see it here.
