Let's see your "I" frames!

A very nice early 4 digit, 4 screw! Yes, it is a Model of 1953, but therefore built on the NEW I frame forging, with larger trigger guard and longer grip frame, not the Improved I which only introduced the coil mainspring and still has 5 screws.

This 1919 .32 actually can be a pocket pistol for me as the tactical pants I wear have VERY deep pockets.

Plain Old Dave,

I like your attitude! A pair of tactical (or cargo) pants with a long barreled 32 S&W I-frame and you're ready to face your next adventure. Don't forget a good clasp knife, a compass and some strike anywhere matches in a genuine Marble's™ match safe to be ready for anything. I might have to "settle for" a 4" barrel on my adventure seeking outfit, but that 6" does have a certain flair (or is it "flare"?) :D

What a very cool thread. For those who have posted about .22/32 HFT's or Bekeart models, please make sure that I have your info in my database. I have information on close to 1,000 of this model and climbing. No personal information is recorded, just details on survivors. Thanks.

If you want information on your .22/32 HFT, I am always willing to look it up and see what I have and share it with you. Also interested in the early "kit" guns in the 500,000 serial ranges.

My two. I really like the vivid colors on the case hardened parts.

Top is a .32 HE, Improved I, 3¼", coil main spring, 5-screw, round sight, small trigger guard, 3rd series post-war latch, short round butt, all matching numbers. According to Hondo44, it probably left the factory in July or August 1952 so it's my first birth year gun. There's no trace of it ever having been fired.

The snub is also a .32: Model 31, Improved I, 2", 3-screw, flat latch, all matching numbers. Back when I first got it Hondo44 said it likely shipped in 1958. When I was 7 my grandmother taught me to shoot hers, which was like this one.

(Looks like I need to take some better pictures of this one....:o)

What a great thread. Here's my three. The first .32 HE was shipped Aug 53. The 2nd HE was shipped Oct 53 and the Terrier was shipped Sept 50.

Since I started this thread some time ago, I acquired one more I-frame. The pictures below have taken recently to confirm that it's not nickel, but a high polish blue, and to show the box. This is a 22/32 kit gun with a unique history. The frame was serialed in 1940, but the gun was not shipped until 1951. I contains both pre-war and post-war parts and mechanisms. Only a very few were produced in this manner, making it quite a S&W collector jewel. It walked in off the street at a small gun show a few years ago, and I had to have it. It's in near-perfect condition. I then found an original-era correct box for it, thanks to a member of this forum.

I love that package!!! Beautiful.

I own very few I frames - but in keeping with John's wonderful transitional Kit Gun (pretty rare birds), here is another one with the hard to find narrow tip SAT that came with post war guns that sported pre-war sights (BTW, the SAT came to me from another gracious member of this forum, along with a Long Tube Pre-27 Gold Box:)):

.32 Hand Ejector (Postwar)

Here is one I picked up last year from a Pawn Shop.

It does not appear to be reblued (to me), or even fired much. Came with the original red box.

I really like the diamond walnut stocks.

I believe this one dates to approx. 1950.

I haven't shot it, and don't know if I will. The white flecks on the gun are from the (incorrect) wax paper in the box.

Very nice gun and that "wax paper" or "vapor paper" looks correct to me for a 1950's shipped S&W. Several of my 1950 boxed guns came with the same type of vapor paper...

ID a circa Octoberish 1917 Hand Ejector?

Just picked this Regulation Police up thinking I could use the grips on another pistol. I can't, as the "I" frame grips won't work on a K frame. I am new to the older revolvers so bear with me.

The serial on this pistol is 47XX. It looks to be nickel, maybe original (?), and has some scratches and light under the barrel corrosion. But overall, the grips are in great condition and has awesome lockup.

Am I close to an October 1917 birth date?

Yes sir, that's a nice early issue!

Below #5000 , all eight known are confirmed to have shipped in 1917. Here's two of them:
#4301 shipped on Sept. 15, 1917, RP, patent date on the stocks, no logo on frame.
#43XX shipped on 9/15/17

If it was originally nickel from the factory, it will not have a B preceding the serial # under the barrel.

The hammer spur has been altered. Either the spur was broken off and welded back or more likely IMO, it was angled up on purpose. They are a bit hard to grasp for cocking as they come from the factory.

Thanks Hondo! So to confirm, if there is NO B under the barrel before the serial number, it is a factory nickel gun?
