    Frank Wesson Pocket Rifle?

I wonder if they got along ? Did they spend Christmas Day at each others house and go to the kids birthday parties, etc.? WB

Something a little different Model of 1891

Not that well. Awkward would be a word I'd use to describe it. The stock sits low on the shoulder, and it is tough to find the sights because the pistol is so high. Give me a .22 rifle any day for gophers and tin cans. But it sure is an awesome accessory...... WB

Something a little different Model of 1891

Model of 1891 mounted in the stock advertised below. From the 1908 Sears, Roebuck & Co. catalog. I have several long barreled .32 and .38 caliber Top-Breaks and New Departures that look just as neat in that stock. WB

    Smith & Wesson Russian Project

I think that looks fine, Murph. Not original to the revolver, but they look good. Knock that shine off them, and you're golden. What else you gonna do with a 145ish year old revolver ? WB

Should I keep it or sell it? That is the question

Keep the good ones. Let the sub-standard ones go. This is most definitely a good one. WB

    32 2" new departure....pictures added post 10.....Weird gun

I own the 3rd Model 1.5" pictured in the link in post #34 above, which does indeed letter as a factory 1.5" barrel. What strikes me is that my pistol carries s/n 241747, and the one in question on this thread carries s/n 241828. Just a coincidence I suppose, but interesting that these two...

    Peacock Grips?

I have two .32 Double Actions in my collection with floral grips. Both are 2nd models. According to SCSW 4th Edition, the floral grips appear only on the .32 Double Action 2nd models. One is in the 40XX s/n range, while the other is in the 20XXX range. Unfortunately, I don't have either of these...

    1891 Combo Set

A lot of Smith & Wesson collectors consider the Registered Magnums to be the "holy grail" of S&W collecting. You, sir, have the holy grail right here. Outstanding..... WB

    .32 Safety Hammerless 3rd Model, 1 1/2"

Here is a .32 Safety Hammerless 3rd Model with 1 1/2" barrel that I own that letters as such. I don't have the letter in front of me right now, but IIRC it shipped to West Virginia ( coal mining country ) in 1937. Somewhere in my memory I think I had been told by a gentleman who collected 1 1/2"...

    American Express .38 Mystery

Well I guess that would certainly qualify as a much higher number than what I believed to be the highest known backstrap number. Outstanding information on that letter ! It appears that your pistol would have to be one of the last shipped to the American Express Co., as SCSW states that they...

S&W New Model 3 in .44 Russian (Pics Added Post 7)

You may or may not find any Japanese markings on it. I own a NM3 that letters as shipped to Takata & Co. in 1891 that has no Japanese markings of any sort. It is nickel with hard rubber grips and letters as such. It also has the lanyard ring on the butt. I do not know the history on my pistol...

    American Express .38 Mystery

After studying your photo and zooming in on your stamping, something doesn't look quite right. It appears that the original number has been overstamped with the number 499. I can see a couple of locations where the original number - including the aforementioned leading "1" - are visible under...
