    Your job is safe, but....

They don't need a camera. Big firms that employ work-at-home employees have the keyboards set up so that the employee must press several keystrokes at time intervals determined by the boss. Obviously, these systems will become more sophisticated in the near future, making sure that cogent...

    Elmer Keith

Thanks to all of you that knew Elmer Keith and have commented above. I only have one of his books "Shotguns By Keith" He dedicated that book to Col. Charles Atkins. I believe that Mr. Keith could accomplish a 600 yard pistol shot, just as Jerry M can today. Mr. Keith talked about a West that...

    M&P9 vs. HK VP9

I have both. The weird things about the HK VP9 include the paddle magazine release and my inability to use a "high thumbs" position. The paddle release is great if you have only HK ( or some Walther) firearms. Otherwise, it takes some training if you are accustomed to a push button magazine...

    Stimulus Checks

No dice for me. I have to wait for a paper check sometime in the Summer of 2020. If your direct deposit information was not included on your 2018 or 2019 returns, it looks like a paper check for you. Too bad we applied our 2018 refund to the quarterly estimate so that our direct deposit...

    Stimulus Checks

If you have applied your last year's refund/overpayment to your estimated taxes owed in the second quarter ( if you need to send it quarterly estimates), the IRS does NOT have your bank information. This is true if you filed in 2018 or 2019. Therefore, you will not get a deposit in your bank at...

    Fire extinguishers. Professional advice?

Seriously, follow the recommendations of "JH1951" and "swsig" listed above. I am not a trained fire fighter, but rather served as an American Red Cross disaster action team leader who has been in a number of fire damaged homes after a fire. I have also had the opportunity to have been present...

Florida is Closing it's Boarder to Some States.

Governor DeSantis is doing a great job. However, this pronouncement is not being enforced nor can it be. No one is checking arriving New York, Connecticut or New Jersey inbound flights into South Florida. How many New Yorkers will comply with this voluntary order? I am guessing five per...

    M&P M2.0 C.O.R.E.

My understanding is that the 2.0 with the optics cut is now being offered to Law Enforcement departments only. Some LEO's have also been able to purchase personal pistols with the optic ready package from specialized distributors. Perhaps once supply catches up with demand, S&W will offer...

    The British Are Coming

It is a great book, with excellent research and an engaging writing style. I am about a quarter of the way through it. Atkinson is one of the leading historians of our time. His trilogy on the European theatre of WW2 is one of the classics.

    Replacing Sights on M&P’s

Be very careful with tritium sights. Using a punch on these sights can lead to broken tubes. A sight pusher is money well spent, or bring to slide to a gunsmith. Alternately, many sight manufacturers will install tritium sights for you for a reasonable fee.

M&P 2.0 Compact -- Fit and finish issues

I understand the O.P.'s point, but he hit the nail on the head when he mentioned that it is a mass produced firearm sold at a relatively low price. Quality is defined as meeting the customer's expectations. For me, the S&W M&P line is well designed, reliable and reasonably accurate. There...

    M&P Shield Grip

Has anyone had luck putting the Hogue grip on a Shield 2.0? I have strong hands ( I thought) and soaked it in boiling water and used plenty of Windex. I used the Hogue recommended method and had no luck getting it on. I have a heat gun if needed. Thanks.

M&P 9 pro shooting WAY LOW.

My Pro Series 4.25" has a slightly oval shaped opening at the muzzle end of the slide. However, it is no where as large in diameter compared to the barrel as yours is. Can you see original black Melonite finish inside the slide? If someone had ground it open in a larger oval pattern, you...

Which OWB holsters are folks using for their 2.0 compact 3.6" models?

Brownells has cut back on their Safariland offerings Safariland 578 GLS Pro-Fit, sub-compact. Fits like a glove. A retail person can order direct from Safariland with free shipping over $75.00. It looks like they are selling direct more easily than they used to. The holster website is pretty...

Cast Iron Experts - Please chime in

Lodge pans are inexpensive. They do have a rough interior finish. If that bothers you, sand it with an orbital sander/grinder before using it. In Garden and Gun magazine ( an upscale southern lifestyle magazine), you can find brand new $300 plus hand formed iron pans. Lodge pans sells for about...

Authors most in need of editing or abridgement

Tom Clancy is his later years was the most verbose. He must have been paid by the word. His book " The Hunt for Red October" was concise. After he became rich and famous, his books became too thick and in need of a good editor. I only read one of the Jack Reacher books by Lee Child ( pen...

    My home security sign

It is a fun sign, but I would suggest that you have a way of taking it down quickly if you ever get in a gun fight at home. That would probably not be a sign that would be ignored by police or a prosecuting state's attorney ( or whatever the local prosecutor is called in your jurisdiction).

    Kidde Fire Extinguisher Recall

Thanks for the notice. I have two in the recall and one more to check on in a remote vehicle. After working in American Red Cross Disaster Services, I have fire extinguishers around the house and garage. If any of you get a new one from Kidde, practice with your old one in the yard. You'll...
