    .380 load (Calling Erich)

Thanks, Erich for the information I know that the .380 is weak, and I prefer my J-frame S&W's. But we cannot forget that the .380 auto generally presents a smaller pocket package than a J-frame. Bullet placement is always important. I like the .45 ACP in both my S&W 325 and in my 1911...

    .380 load (Calling Erich)

A question for Erich, please Based on your experience and expertise, what role do you see for the "Mag-Safe" type ammo in .380 ACP ? This would be from a short barrel back up gun type pistol. Thank you.

Anyone carry a J Frame with a bobbed hammer?

My model 60 has a fully bobbed hammer I had a gunsmith take the hammer down so that it can only be fired D/A. In comparison to the 442, the 60 is heavier and has less apparent recoil because of the weight difference.

Crimson Trace rubbers on J frame: Sticky in pocket?

LG-105 grips are not sticky I have two J frames with the LG-105 grips. These grips are not bulky and I do not believe that they would have any problem with a holster of any kind. The 105 grips are less "sticky" than Pachmayr or Houge grips. I use a nylon ( Shooting Systems) pocket holster for...

Ideal field gun for National Park carry?

As Feralmerril knows, only Rangers in Alaska were issued .375H&H rifles for bears. My wife's cousin worked at both Denali and Kodiak and brown bears are a serious threat there. When he worked at Glacier (Montana), he was a ranger working the backcountry and they were not even allowed power...

Swapping Crimson Trace 305 for 105

I have two sets of CT 105LG. If you want small and somewhat slippery, these are your choice. On a new 442, I replaced the S&W Pachmayr grips (yes, it also came with pink grips that went in the garbage as soon as I got home). On an older model 60 (1974), I also put on CT 105LG in place of...

    442

I love my 442. It does have more kick than the stainless version and is somewhat lighter. My wife prefers her 1974 model 60 with bobbed hammer. The slight premium in weight yields lower recoil. That being said, these guns need your constant practice to be effective. The triggers are very...

    Getting a Nightguard 310 tomorrow....

I have the 325 in .45ACP and find it to be a wonderful revolver. I bought a Galco holster and it is a perfect fit. As these are somewhat new models, not all holster makers are up to speed. You may find it interesting that the Scandium "atomic" logo from the "J" frame lightweight revolvers is...

Help with production date of Model 60?

Thanks. That seems about right. I guess I should have posted in the pre-80's forum. Thanks again.

Why the .45 ACP in a revolver?

I enjoy my new 325 NightGuard in .45ACP. It gives a reliable backup to autopistols and it shares the same cartridge as my primary weapons. I don't care for the 9mm and only my backup guns are S&W snubbies in .38SPL. To me, .357 in a short barrel has no advantages. It takes some practice to...
