I like the 40sw caliber. Sure,it's a little "snappier" in recoil than a 9mm, but it's knockdown power and car body penetration is worth it.

I bought one at the last gun show. Came from the NYPD, and the double action has had a lot of work as it is so easy and quick to fire double action. Trigger pull is super light and cartridges fire easily! Too heavy and large for me to carry concealed.

I own one like yours. The ammo is 32SW Long and available at Academy Sports for about 8 dollars a box of 50. Square butt models were called Regulation Police. Many Chiefs of Police loved this Model.

I have the 1st issue made in 1898 in same caliber. I posted about it here. I found ammo for it at the Gun Show in Tyler,TX. A 50 round box of new ammo cost me 50 dollars.

I also own a S&W model 1899 revolver in 32-20 caliber. This 4 number s/n is also shoot able. Great quality and tightness in this revolver. Mine is nickle plated, with the original holster carried on duty in a Texas town.
