If you own a late model GM truck with the 6.2 motor

Let’s face it, GM has a history of recalls, and when they screw up, it means a big recall since they sell many vehicles. This isn’t due to Toyota, or UFOs, or the EPA, it’s a manufacturing error the GM didn’t catch. And this one carries a big bill to correct. I’ve sold GM cars and liked them...

Does anyone shoot anything other than 9mm?

I shoot more .38 than 9mm, and I shoot .357 about third in frequency. I can reload .38 and .357 which makes it more economical. In fact, after getting a Model 15 and a Model 19 from a friend’s estate, I pulled out my old progressive press which had been stored for 30+ years and set it up to...

M&P 9 fired while inserting magazine

Absolutely this. No way would I carry or use that firearm until it had been thoroughly stripped down and diagnosed.

Does anybody drive less than me?

If you live in the western US outside a city core, you drive. The western US has very limited public transportation and none outside cities like Denver or Salt Lake. Cars drove expansion and determined its layout. We have four cars, all over 100k miles and running nicely. I remember a time when...

    Old Reloading Tools

I don't have anything pre-1965, but I just pulled out my 1970s Lee 1000 Progressive after it was stored for 40 years. It's working well aside from a problem feeding primers. I think the plastic case sensor arm needs a bit of tweaking. I've recently added a couple of S&W revolvers and .38...

Bodyguard 2.0- the good, the bad, and the ugly

I tried a BG for the first time about a week ago. I liked it a lot, but the trigger pull seemed extremely long to me. It modulated well, and I felt like I could stack the trigger just before it fired, but wow, that trigger pull was a long one. I'm kind of on the fence about that characteristic.

    New format.

Great improvement! Works better on laptop and on phone, easier to read, larger fonts on laptop. The previous format was badly outdated. Thanks for a great change to a better format. The only change I'd like is to re-do the artwork at the top of the forum. It's too dark and almost impossible...

    Is a 3913 a good gun?

That was the first series model 39, which are ancient history. There were two series after that which had good extraction. This report is long outdated. I have a series 2 and it extracts just fine, especially if I don't let old gunk build up under the extractor.

Worn Model 10-6, seeking date of mfg & opinions on cerakote/parkerizing etc options

That's a great story, but I would politely suggest that you either remove the photo with the numbers on the slide or obscure them before posting. It's not a great idea to have the gent's SSN visible on the Internet. Unfortunate, but that's the world of today. Thanks for telling the story.

If you could only pick 2 ultimate classics

I have two revolver choices: the Model 19 (any dash) and the 686. Both of them pretty much define an era of S&W revolver. And the one S&W that is iconic to me is a semi-auto: the Model 39. It has been my go-to for years, and it was the first domestic semi-auto to offer double action fire on...

Your Thoughts on the NRA Today?

Folks, I'm going to respond honestly. I'm a lifetime firearms owner and user, but I'm neither inclined to Republican views nor a big fan of the NRA. It's hard for me to post sometimes because I am very much in the middle when it comes to many firearms issues, and stating any unpopular opinion...

    Appreciation of the Model 39-2

Thanks for the read - interesting. Good news - I ran 100 rounds through the Model 39-2 today and not ONE failure to eject. I'm very, very pleased with that. The comment earlier in the thread about feeding was on my mind, and I did have a few events where the first round off the top of the clip...

    Appreciation of the Model 39-2

I got the spring and extractor from Numrich. I worked from the top because the extractor retaining pin had a small channel to guide the tool used to press the pin out. I didn't have a punch small enough to back the pin out from the top, but a small brad nail did the trick. I discovered the...

    Appreciation of the Model 39-2

In the early 80s I was a reserve deputy and provided my own sidearm. I started with a Model 28, but picked up a Model 39-2 and quickly came to prefer carrying it because of weight, capacity and the fact that it was a really instinctive pointer. Over time, for reasons I don't recall I foolishly...
