I was looking at this and I decided to go with the 5" S&W Pro series instead.

My 5946 is my favorite I have had it for 18 years. I have the same feelings as the OP about the gun.

I just tell people to build one with the options they want and forget buying an out of the box rifle. It isn't as hard as many make it out to be and when you are finished you have the rifle you want.
