Static cling in the powder die - Unique

Interesting timing as I was having the exact same problem with Power Pistol powder over the week end. It was like electrostatic charged powder jumping 6" to the metal body. Grounding rod is a bit extreme but the dryer sheet sounds interesting.

    Progressives, Christmas, and Atheists

What the other said about the Powder Cop. Bought it with all my gear and set it up initially in the press. Found that when loading pistol cartridges I never looked at the Cop once, always looked at the casing and visually looked at the power charge in each one. After a while just removed the...

    Progressives, Christmas, and Atheists

I bought my Hornady LnL AP when Cablea's had Hornady on sale 20% off during the Summer. Pushed a $1,200 cart out of the store that day and then started more shopping for bullets, powders, primers, primer flippers, containers for brass, books, recipes, amo boxes, shell trays, casing tumblers...

    Talk to me about Chronographs

Interesting timing for this post. I just spent the last three days working up new recipes and then heading to the range each day to Chrono (New Year weekend) I picked up the Competition Electronics Pro with the Bluetooth DigitalLink. I think the DigitalLink really makes a difference. I like...

9mm taper crimp and bullet seating die ??

WR More: Part of the mystery solved, its the Hornady bullet seating stem. I took the die apart and fit the cartridge with the bullet with ring around it and the ring matched up with the end of the stem. OD of the seating stem measures.3545 and ID measures.214. The edge of the stem is pressing a...

9mm taper crimp and bullet seating die ??

Scooter123: Great, great response! Very thorough! Regarding the particular dies included with the sets, yes, I did get three dies plus shell holder with the American Series set. Besides the fact that the Custom-Grade sets have a split locking ring and the American have a steel nut and "O" ring...

9mm taper crimp and bullet seating die ??

Couple revelations to my questions. Some of the cartridges held just fine, other I could rotate the bullet but all the bullets have a ring around the bullet at about the exact midpoint. I good friend at work brought in his 20++ year old Lee dies and we compared dies. The bullet seating stem for...

9mm taper crimp and bullet seating die ??

I've starting working on my first test batches of 9mm loads and mostly doing OK. One area I'm not happy with is the seating and bullet crimp. I'm using the Hornady American Series die because I didn't know better when I bought my pistol dies. Now I wish I would have tried the Custom dies...

    Lock rings to replace O-rings?

CMJ8591: Perfect! That's exactly what I was looking for! When I bought the press and equipment I bought the American Series dies for my pistol cartridges because I didn't know better. The American Series dies use a steel nut and "O" ring. I bought the Custom Grade for my 223 and those dies have...

    Lock rings to replace O-rings?

Some of the Hornady dies use O-rings to lock in the setting. I've never been a fan of O-rings as they can compress and even twist out of place and not reliable to lock in a setting. Does anyone know if the set screw style lock rings use for other dies are available individually to replace the...

Hornady L&L dies and stations question

Has to be the seating die. The ringed dent is all the way around the bullet, 3/16" up from the case and 3/16 down from the tip. When I backed off the main die a bit to lessen the crimp the bullets would push into the casing so definitely not to much crimp.

Hornady L&L dies and stations question

Hi Twoboxer Played with the flare a bit at that time and I could manually place a bullet in the casing and turn the casing upside down and the bullet would hold. Checked flare with calipers and read slightly over spec (.387 from memory) The amount of pressure I can put gently pressing the bullet...

Hornady L&L dies and stations question

After company left Sunday went and hid in my shop and worked on setting up the press. Plus it was 19 below zero and wind chill in the negative 30s so good day to play with reloading. Lowered the powder drop body to increase clearance to fit the PTX linkage (it's till a turnbuckle). Played with...

Hornady L&L dies and stations question

I had to Google PTX (Powder Through Expander) which opened up more info. Found the replacement expander in my bullet feeder die per some YouTube info. Rearranged my die configuration per the Hornady recommendation. Tight clearance for the powder drop arms and the bullet feeder tube. This brings...

Hornady L&L dies and stations question

So the bullet feeder die replaces the third expander die that was part of the set?

Hornady L&L dies and stations question

Been working my way into reloading over the summer stock piling casings, powder, bullets etc etc preparing for MN Winter. Now at the point of ready to start cranking out pistol rounds. In looking at various recommended die set up configurations none seem to mention the expander die to bell the...

Aging eys and prescription shooting glasses

I have a pair of prescription shooting glasses my optometrist made that are similar to my computer glasses. Focal length is set at about 27". I've always had very good eyesight but age catches up and after 45 had to start use reading glasses. Every four years or so the prescription gets a bit...

Aging eys and prescription shooting glasses

Anyone ever try Tactical RX and their Almost Lens? I like the idea of dominate eye bifocal with the bifocal at the top and rest of lens set for distance. Not cheap but sounds "on target" for USPSA.

Aging eys and prescription shooting glasses

I'm looking for options for shooting glasses for USPSA and IPSC. I'm sure I have a lot of company with the same problem, need a crisp focus for my pistol sights at arms length but still need to be able to see my target. I'm at that point where I finally broke down and surrendered to bifocals but...

45 auto ammo: RN or SWC?

Sort of a cross over question in different categories but... I'm starting to reload and working on different recipes which also is driven by bullets and weights. I think I have things worked out for 9mm and 40 for USPSA and what I'm loading but running into some questions regarding my 45 1911...
