    More than one gun???

No, but the one I thought of as #2 was the logical choice and i'm not willing to give up the range and power #1 offers. ....or an advantage. That's not always the case. Lance Thomas wasn't a cop. God bless you for doing this work. I love what you do, but disagree with your doctrine. I'm more...

    110 Grain 357s

Yes, rev, I do. That would be the incident in which N. Carolina highway patrolman Mark Coates lost his life. As I recall, Coates emptied his service revolver stoked with Winchester .357 145 gr. Silvertips into his obese assailant. The perp landed one decisive freak shot from a NAA .22 lr. mini...

    More than one gun???

Whatever you decide, God bless all honest folks who carry! Also, if you carry more than one, just as I do, be able to articulate why. You won't have to at the scene of a shoot. Just keep your mouth shut. You and your lawyer will have ample time to present your arguments.

.38 Spl +P+ What do you think?

You're most welcome, sir! As far as penetration goes, a well designed, modern .357 JHP cartridge is no more likely to overpenetrate anymore than a .38+P. The extra velocity will generally result in a larger expanded diameter which puts on the "brakes" harder, or fragmentation combined with...

Murder 1/2 block from my house

Keep the doors locked and a gun (preferably a long gun) within arm's reach at all time. Stay safe.

    More than one gun???

Well, I came very close to drawing my weakside front pocket gun last September. I'm not going to give up carrying a full size revolver, but sometimes the pocket draw is the way to go. Two guns gives me that option. Thank God I didn't need it that time. It did work however. When the knucklehead...

Lessons from Miami shootout for civilians?

D, I'm curious as to what you are thinking regarding bad tactics. My understanding is that the FBI used several units to stakeout some banks they felt were likely to get robbed by Platt and Matix just off the South Dixie Highway in Kendall, Florida on the morning of April 11th 1986. SA McNeil...

.38 Spl +P+ What do you think?

As OKFC05 mentioned, there are medium velocity .357 loads, such as the Speer SB .357 and the Remington Golden Sabre. Think of them as .38+P+ loads packaged in a .357 case. I haven't tested the Golden Sabre, but with the Speer load you will get more power, more reliable expansion and a bonded...

    38 Special+P vs. .357 Magnum from 2.5 or 3" Barrel

I agree. That's sage advice. As far as penetration goes, whether it was premium .38+P, or .357 from snub barrels, both should stop in roughly 12 - 14 inches in gel. Where I've seen overpenetration is with .38s failing to expand. That hasn't been an issue when I've tested .357s. Perhaps Erich...

Lessons from Miami shootout for civilians?

What Photoman said, except shotguns in all the agents hands would have been decisive as well. IMO, the 9mm ammo could have worked better, but that wasn't the real issue. I will add that the often criticised Dove bullet did exactly what it was supposed to and did penetrate reasonably well. It...

    Model 29 wasn't just Dirty Harry's gun....

My gun too, but in stainless. 5" 629. That cat has cross eye dominance issues.

    Shoot The Dog?

Heck, my snakes have bad days and are sometimes for no apparent reason cranky. Someone posted that there are no bad dogs, but that they get raised that way. My hunch is that, just like people, there is the occasional dog that is born no good.

Should I even consider an exposed hammer for pant pocket carry?

I can't say I'm more accurate DA, but I'm just as accurate. Last December I shot a 1 1/2" group with my 629 using my carry ammo DA from a rest. Unrested my accuracy is every bit as good as SA. Jim Cirillo was a huge advocate of DA only fire when shooting PPC.

Should I even consider an exposed hammer for pant pocket carry?

No. This advice is worth far more than you paid for it. SA fire from a snubby is an attempt to solve a software problem with hardware. Bob that hammer, eliminate a potential problem (snagging), and learn to shoot DA well. You will shoot every bit as good, if not better than SA once you have...

Model 60 3 inch for CCW?

    I'm 5'7" 200 lbs. and routinely carry a 5" 629. A guy your size should be able to hide a 3" model 60 in a speedo. :D

Woods carry ammo: on the belt or speed strips?

Aaron, extra guns are my reload. I carry a speed strip for the .357 and a belt slide for the .44. I don't carry extra ammo for my NAA Black Widow.
