    Humble beginnings

The idea was to keep the nicest ones for the kids. Nothing better than being the first to send lead down the pipe. Thanks for all of the kind words and compliments on my collection. I'll be sure to keep you folks updated. My wishlist is a mile long.

    Humble beginnings

It all started here about 2 years ago when I bought my first Smith, a 332 pocket gun for work. I never really posted much but I've learned a lot from this forum reading posts and learning from others. It's slowly become an addiction. After the 332 came a 15-4, then a 28-2, then a 19-4 because...

    Model 28 price

If you're remembering the East Berlin Fish and Game Show, that 28-2 is in my safe. Not a bad deal at all for $425. Looked like it spent it's life in a dresser drawer. To the OP, a gun is worth only as much as you're willing to pay. I 've overpaid a few times to get what I wanted and I still...

    Looking for J frame grips

I've picked up a lot of grips at gun shows for good prices. I've also got some used ones on ebay, but you have to be careful. What looks good in the listing pictures may not look as good on your Smith. It's a bit of a **** shoot.

    1969 .38 Special J Frame w/ 3" barrel HOLSTER HELP

I carry a 3 inch Model 36 in an Don Hume IWB holster. It's great quality for the price. Also keep an eye out for used holsters on the auction sites. That's how I started my holster bin.

    Centennial thread

BlackSky, very nice 432. I was about to ask which model that was and then it came to me. Very clever.

    Centennial thread

I haven't seen any of these on here yet so I figured I'd chime in. My faithful 332 that has been in my pocket for the last 3 years. It's currently in the process of becoming my wife's sidearm, but for that same reason there's a 442 ND on it's way to my FFL :D

    19-4 Rebound slide issue

Just wanted to update this post and let everyone know that my 19 is back in action thanks to jimmyj. Replacing the rebound slide put her back in gear. And since everyone here loves pictures, I figured I'd give some S&W photography a shot. The rebound slide on the left is the "bad one", the one...

PM sent to you jimmyj. Thanks.

    19-4 Rebound slide issue

I keep looking at the darn thing and the more I look the more I can imagine that someone has filed or stoned it. It looks awfully uneven like it was done freehand by someone with little patience, in comparison to the one from my model 15 that shows very little wear for all the rounds I've put...

    19-4 Rebound slide issue

Thanks Bob, I just checked out Numrich. They have the part but I want to call and confirm that the part they have is an original machined part and not the mim part that Midway has for sale. I'm sure the mim part that Midway shows for model 19s would work, but I like to keep the internals...

    19-4 Rebound slide issue

Thanks for the reply Mike. Sorry I forgot to mention that I did try a new factory rebound spring and that didn't fix it. It seems that the rebound slide has so much wear that it just can't push the hammer up enough to allow the sear to fully engage the trigger. The hammer on the other hand...

    19-4 Rebound slide issue

I recently puchased a used 19-4 and after getting it home noticed that after firing if the trigger is let out gently and then the trigger is pulled again in DA, it seems that something felt to be binding. After removing the side plate I can see that the sear is not fully engaging the trigger...

Hornady .38 spl 158 grain xtp?

Badge, thanks for the links! I searched youtube before I posted and could not find that video on the Hornady XTP 158 Grain. I was disappointed with what I saw on the Buffalo Bore review. Looks like I'm gonna order me some XTPs. Thanks everyone for your responses.

Hornady .38 spl 158 grain xtp?

So far I've been sticking to the 158 grain loads because they shoot to poa. I've been trying to avoid the +p stuff, but it seems that modern +p loads aren't what they used to be and aren't as bad for the older smiths as they were once thought to be. The FBI load is on my list of considerations...

Hornady .38 spl 158 grain xtp?

Thanks for your reply. That is kinda what I expected but wanted to ask before I spent any money testing it for myself. Looks like it's buffalo bore for me.

Hornady .38 spl 158 grain xtp?

I've been carrying my 36-1 3 inch more often now that my wife has taken an interest in my 332. The 36 shoots to POA with heavier 158 grain projectiles, so for SD purposes I have it narrowed down to either buffalo bore or the hornady 158 grain xtp, but can't find any reviews on the hornadys...

S&W 19-4 6" date and the right grips

According to the SCSW, 1980 is correct. Not sure about the grips.

    S&W Model 13-1 Question

I saw one that looked similar to what is being described on gunbroker not to long ago. I let it go for fear it was a basement gunsmith creation.

    Favorite Wheelgun

For range time, my 15-4 4 inch has the sweetest trigger action I've ever felt. For carry it has to by my 36-1 3 inch. Can't seem to convince myself to carry a K frame....
