    Model 58 Round Butt?

Roy Jinks advised me in the Letter of Authenticity for my Model 58 that things like target hammer and trigger were sometimes added by Smith & Wesson warrantee centers. Mine has a target hammer and trigger also. Here's the pertinent excerpt from the letter: We have researched your Smith & Wesson...

    Model 58 Round Butt?

That has a few other non-factory features besides the round butt. I can't tell about the trigger, but it has a target hammer which was not standard for the Model 58 and it would not have had a pinned front sight when it left the factory.

    Model 58 Round Butt?

What P&R Fan said. All M58 revolvers had square butt frames from the factory.

    Q-Targets

Interesting. When I retired in April 1991, we were still using the pass/fail system.

    Q-Targets

When we (NJSP) switched to the FBI Q-targets in the late 70's-early 80's, our scoring was even easier than described by WCCPHD. There were no points involved and your shot was scored simply as a hit or miss. If you got enough hits in the coke bottle silhouette, you qualified.

Did S&W ever ship no dash 60's with combat grips?

Firearm History Request - Smith & Wesson Don't get your hopes up though. The chances that your Model 60 came from the factory with combat grips are slim to none.

    Which 44 Mag to Buy...

The 629 and 29 both have 6" barrels and weigh virtually the same. There would be no discernible difference in recoil between the two.

    Your Carry Rigs

I just received this beauty from Lobo Gun Leather. It's a Tom Threepersons style holster and the revolver is my 29-4 3" Special customized by Gary Reeder. I've been carrying one or another sidearm for going on 50 years now and Lobo Gun Leather is my absolute favorite. The fact is, I use more...

    True Detective S&W

In my view, it's without question an original issue (fluted cylinder) Performance Center 627. If you watch the scene in Episode 4: Who Goes There where he braces Tyrone Weems behind the building where they were having the rave, you can very plainly see Marty's revolver.

If the Model 66 doesn't fit, this is the most likely explanation.

    Timeless best of both worlds?

The process of case hardening (aka surface hardening) hardens only the surface of the metal being treated. The resulting thin layer of harder metal at the surface is called "the case." In other words, after the case hardening process, the metal object is "encased" in a thin layer of hardened...

    new 442 shooting sparks

I had my M&P 340 revolver's firing pin start to throw sparks while dryfiring and the tip of it broke off shortly after that. The sparks might not be a problem, but they could be a sign of imminent breakage. I replaced my broken firing pin with one from Cylinder & Slide and never had another...
