Need to see if there’d be interest in these

I’ll wait for more knowledgeable members to chime in on values, but feel pretty confident in saying this. The 29-2 will always be desirable. A 19-3 also desirable, even if 6” isn’t everyone’s favorite. Pinned and recessed magnums always draw attention. Early 586s also draw plenty of attention...

    Quick nickel polishing question

I’m cleaning up / polishing a few of my stainless and nickel Smiths. The one I’m doing now is my 29-2 6.5”, nickel. I’m currently cleaning up with Mothers, which is working great. My question is about wax. I’ve seen several here recommend Renaissance wax. Don’t have THAT on hand. I DO have a...

    A New Maker Of 1911's

Not for me at that price, but worth pointing out that a checkered front strap is not usually something you see at that price point. That said, I picked up a S.A. Garrison 5" blued for about $700, and for that price it is shockingly high quality. Tough competition out there (and I haven't even...

    Chose the nickel 19-3

Pretty stocks and pretty gun! These days, at that price I would’ve walked out with it. Nice score! Agree w/ above. A light Flitz (or whatever) LIGHT polish is a good idea before wax. Post “after” pics if you do please!

Thank you for the advice. Send up prayers for my wallet, as now the hunt begins

    Question about .45ACP revolvers

A recent thread piqued my interest in acquiring a .45ACP revolver, as I have plenty of that ammo and it just sounds FUN… Forgive the dumb question, what model should I be seeking? I see the 25 and 625 pop up. Can I shoot .45ACP out of ANY 25 or 625? Or does it need to have been specifically...

    Kimber K6S

I’m digging that color combo. I had one, stainless 3” DAO. I regret selling it, FWIW. They’re surprisingly nice revolvers. Defense .357s are pretty harsh, I wouldn’t carry them unless I trained more with them. .38+P was much more reasonable, but YMMV. Congrats on the new piece!

One in every finish in every barrel length….

When I started buying guns ~10 years ago I had ZERO interest in revolvers. Then I happened upon a 4” 19-4 that was too pretty and priced too good, so I figured “why not? I like shooting .357” And similar to you, the more I learned about all the models, history, variations… it’s a habit that...

    Trade a model 36-1 for a 10-6

Agreed. If you want what he has more than what you have, don't sweat ~$50 (or whatever) value difference. That lost or gained value will likely be forgotten in a few weeks anyway.

My S&W family is growing! Model 66-3 2.5” (Latest pic post #14)

Wow, you’re correct. It is a -3. I didn’t even think to check it at pickup. I guess the seller didn’t even know what he was selling before he just tossed it in a box  Oh well, I bought it for the price, not the dash model. No way I’m gonna try to return it to this guy, it was enough...

My S&W family is growing! Model 66-3 2.5” (Latest pic post #14)

Update: I picked up my Model 66-2 today. No pic yet, it needs a bath and a grip swap, hopefully soon. Took longer than thought to be able to pick it up from my FFL. The idiot seller on GB (individual, not a shop) just tossed it in a priority mailbox and sent it over to my FFL with zero...

    29-2 4" Nickel.

I’ve noticed on GB that if they payment terms don’t include using a CC to check out, that seems to turn away a large chunk of potential bidders. So if you’ve got a little patience and don’t mind mailing the USPS MO, there can be deals found. Regardless, $900 for that gun is a deal no matter...

My S&W family is growing! Model 66-3 2.5” (Latest pic post #14)

That's a pretty one too! I of course want a pinned model as well, but not bad enough to justify the extra costs I was seeing. But as I've learned, never say never...
