    .455 Hand Ejector 1st Model (Triple Lock) s/n 1911

This past weekend I attended a local auction and became curator of a .455 Hand Ejector 1st Model (Triple Lock). Based on Hondo44’s research, it is one of the approximately 5800 produced in 1914-1915 under contract for the British government. Although 105 years old and having survived service...

    Very early Chiefs Spl. Airweight

If you're looking for a break point serial number for model numbering . . . bmcgilvray has indicated his 11440 is not model marked but my 11689 is model marked 42 . . . and still has the locking bug screw. Russ

Please tell me about my .38 Special 64-1

I'm surprised no one mentioned the import mark on the barrel flat . . . it may or may not warrant a letter of authenticity to know where it shipped. I had a 3" Model 10-5 that came back as shipping to the Gov't of Jamaica in Kingston, Jamaica. Here is an excerpt from BorderView web page: ATF...

    Rare Victory Revolver Question

Kevin is being more than a little modest . . . he knows a great deal about 2" Victory models. I would urge the OP to take him up on his offer . . . he'll provide an informed and honest opinion. Russ

    Ammo Carry for J Frame

An excellent point. I use a strong hand reload so my speed strip is in my right pocket. Whatever you decide works best for you, practice and be consistent. If you should ever need it in a hurry, you don't want to wonder where you put it today and waste valuable time hunting for it. Best...

    Ammo Carry for J Frame

I use a Bianchi Speed Strip carried in my right front pocket. The strip holds six rounds and I carry it with all six even though the cylinder only holds five. It's a personal preference decision . . . use what works best for you. Russ

    Identify Proof Mark

I've added close-up pictures of the proof mark and other "symbols" on the Model 10-8 with s/n prefix ABN (circa 1983). Based on armorer951's and Absalom's identification I'm convinced this is a modern day French Proof Mark from the St. Etienne proof house. SMALL ARM PROOF | Banc National...

    Identify Proof Mark

A friend sent me this picture of a Model 10-8 (circa 1983) that is clearly marked by the importer (don't recall which one) and with proof marks on the frame and barrel that I can't identify. If needed I can have him bring it over and we can take better, close-up pictures. Thanks, Russ

RARE MODEL 14 * still MORE pics added*

Congratulations . . . you done good! Of all the 5" Combat Masterpieces and K-38s I've come across, that's the first Model 14 no dash I've seen! I hope you'll request a factory letter so we can learn more about it . . . when did it ship; where did it ship; how many in the shipment; etc.. I'll...

RARE MODEL 14 * still MORE pics added*

The crown appears very well done and likely by the factory. If the seller will provide the serial number, and you want to share it with me via PM or email, I'll check it against the list of known serial numbers that shipped to the ISP. There were many factory 5" K-38s that did not ship to the...

    Trijicon relamping

If I'm reading that right, that price (with the 26% discount and free shipping) is for the rear only . . . don't see a corresponding listing for the SA24 front. Russ

    4513TSW correct magazine

Which of the two magazines pictured below is the correct magazine for an early (non-rail) 4513TSW? - Both hold 6 rounds, are marked ES1, and seem to fit the 4513TSW - Neither has the additional pressed indentations at the lips designed for the CS-45 - Shape of the base plates is very...

    Date check 36-1 3”

It looks like 1976 from the book . . . others may be keeping track of actual shipping dates and able to get closer. I bought my first 36-1 in October 1966 and still find it (and similar 3" heavy barrel J-frames) to be the most natural pointing and shooting revolvers made. Enjoy yours, Russ

RARE MODEL 14 * still MORE pics added*

just for clarification . . . . . . not all factory shipped 5" K-38s are exactly the same. Although never catalogued, there were several special runs of the 5" K-38 and subsequent Model 14s of various engineering changes that I am aware of . . . a few that are included in this thread. All but...
