I'll take the Colt small frame grips

I have tried it (in an Italian SAA). It doesn't work. Case is jammed against recoil shield and shoulder does not allow it to move forward. It might work if you were to make a reamer with a straight taper but I never went that far.

I used one for years as a duty gun. I don't think I ever had a malfunction in thousands of rounds. It also did well with lead bullets but the gas tube did have to be scraped. Heating was never a problem.
