    Hey 1911 fans!!!!

Another vote for Dan Wesson. I have given a few some SERIOUS range time with ZERO failures. My PM9 has 20k ish rounds through it and the only things I have done are a couple new recoil springs and clean it. Still tight, still locks up like a bank vault. PM45 has about 5k rounds also with zero...

    .44 magnum primer pressure question

Those look just like the primers in my 240 gr XTP over full charge of H110 loads. Been flattening primers like that for many years. As previously mentioned, if the cases extract somewhat smoothly and pressure signs do NOT go beyond what you are seeing, you should be fine. FWIW, my $0.02, YMMV

Any body mix different lots of the same powder

Meaning what, exactly? What is the accuracy standard? I'm genuinely curious about this ... my 9mm PPQs all group 2" at 50 yards, I have multiple 629's that will pop milk jugs at 100 yards all day long or my PRS rifles that are all sub 1/2 MOA. All of these rifles and pistols have done these...

Any body mix different lots of the same powder

I know I'm not supposed to but I have for many years. I used to do load workup with every new batch of powder and ALWAYS ended up at the exact same load prior to the new batch. I couldn't tell you exactly how many pounds of Sport Pistol I have burned but it would be at least 40. Same goes for...

MY THOUGHTS ON FLAME CUTTING - DIDN'T WANT TO HI-JACK PREVIOUS THREAD

Slightly off topic but all my N-frame 629's have flame cutting. My 69 does as well but is minor and has not been shot a lot. I shoot only 240 grain XTP over a full charge of H110. The oldest and highest round count 629 has flame cutting that progressed to a point then has gone no further with...

    I'm in deep now

fixed it for you I have a lightly used 650XL. It is in the neighborhood of 150k rounds loaded since I bought it new about 4 years ago. I do a little competition shooting so loading my own ammo is a VERY economical solution for me at the volume I shoot. When it comes to loading 5.56 ammo, the...

    Engraved 629 finally home!

I had one of the Magna Classic overruns. It was a standard 629-3 Classic. Brushed finish, RRWO sights, S&W square butt conversion grip. I had no idea what it was when I got it. The 7.5" barrel was the interesting part for me. Found the short blurb about the overruns in SCSW and promptly...

S&W Hammer Camming Forward Problem 586-8

I have had this happen twice on two different guns. Same part on both ... rebound spring. First one was a used 29 DX I bought, found out after first range session that someone had clipped a few coils off the rebound spring. Second one was a 629-4 Classic that I bought new and shot a LOT. Only...

    What optic would you choose?

Vortex Strike Eagle would be a great optic for your rifle

    357mag 158gn HornadyXTP recomended powders

HS-6 would be a fantastic powder for your chosen load. Excellent mid range magnum performance, clean burning, accurate and plentiful around these parts. Longshot would be another good powder for your needs but my personal choice would be HS-6

    Ruger vs. Browning 22’s

I have owned seven different Buckmarks over the years, down to a couple now, both are GREAT guns and have been for a very long time ... BUT Shot a few rounds through a buddy's Mk IV 22/45 Lite, got one for myself to put some serious round count through and ... well ... total of 4 Mk IV 22/45...

    Reloading for a 6" 686

Just my opinion but I wouldn't push a 686 that hard. Your gun won't like it. They tend to be happy and STAY happy topped out at 1200 - 1250 fps. If you want big velocity numbers, get an 'N' frame to play with. Powder dippers aren't really a good idea when playing with magnum loads. A quick...

Sheet rock interior walls and overpenetration...

Small argument to your case: Comparing a fist through a sheetrock WALL to a bullet through the same wall is not accurate. If you calculate the energy expended based on the end result, a properly utilized fist has more energy by orders of magnitude than the bullet. To expand on your comparison...

Sheet rock interior walls and overpenetration...

Take an AR15 loaded with 5.56 ammo with 55 grain FMJ's with you to test as well inside of 20 yards. Curious as to what your results will be on that ...

    223 primer pockets problems

I load mass quantities of 9mm on my Dillon 650. There has been a surprisingly large number of berdan primed cases get through the sorting and into the case feeder. I usually catch them on the primer seating step when the new primer doesn't want to seat smoothly. Dillon decapping pin just pushes...

.223 loads whats your go to load?

My plinker load is 55 gr Hornady FMJ over 25 gr H335 with CCI SR primer. I prefer Lake City brass as it's easy to buy in bulk quantity. Flawless operation in all my AR's, accurate within reason, and is clean.

Dan Wesson has several offerings in the 10mm caliber.

    M1 Garand Issue

Sounds like light loads not bringing the bolt all the way back to engage the next round in the magazine. I've had a gas plug come loose a couple times causing the same problem. If your op-rod spring is good enough to strip the top round without bumping the charging handle forward, you are most...

    Load Recipe for Pushing a 125gn JHP at 1450 fps out of a 4" S&W 686

Just my opinion here but I would never run loads with H110/W296 in anything but an 'N' frame. Yes, the 686 is indeed a .357 MAGNUM caliber but sometimes just because you can doesn't mean you should. It will be hard on the gun, massive flame cutting on the top strap, multiple fireballs on every...
