    Halloween Candy—initial run?

I find that if you buy candy too early it seems to disappear before Halloween even gets here.

    Say it isn't so...

You just can’t trust the names on food… Didn’t anyone ever notice that “Grey Poupon” mustard isn’t grey..?

I got really lucky but shouldn't have made the mistake

You never can be too cautious.. My a/c guy is a very good friend (I sold a .45 to him about ten years ago.… he also has a nice collection that he more or less keeps to himself over security concerns). The same for my plumber (he sold me a real nice model 17.. he regretted selling it and now...

    Spidey-sense…?

I normally take extra precautions and try to keep alert.. …when I’m leaving a retail store, I look around (head swivel) and if there is someone close behind me, I’ll stop abruptly like I forgot something in the store and let whoever it is get in front of me. ..park as close as possible to the...

    Spidey-sense…?

…a vague but powerful sense of danger or creepiness based on intuition” I used to carry most of the time but for a while now I haven’t. No particular reason, probably just laziness or complacency. Lately I’ve started to feel uneasy just going about my daily routine. I can’t really put my...

    Taking Pictures of guns

All great photo ideas…. Just don’t be afraid of taking multiple shots and leave a bit of open space around the gun. This allows you to crop out unwanted background and/or straighten the image. I chuckle everytime I see a photo that includes the shooter’s feet or toes poking into the photo...

NAVY SEAL KNIVES from 1965- 2015

Here’s a photo of an early USN MK III with a clipped blade and upswept tip. Later and current models have a slight curve on the tip, but are still marked Mod 0. I believe these were issued… but many special ops carried whatever they thought worked best.

NAVY SEAL KNIVES from 1965- 2015

You do need to be careful and not get caught up in the “story”. The dive knife was like $10 and not advertised as being unit marked. If it was “humped up” I would have expected it to say “SEAL Team” or something along those lines. Here is a Randall made knife that I bought directly from a team...

I agree... I would have to know the person that actually found it and trust them. I do know a fellow locally that found one in the Dismal Swamp area.. it's a really nice one.... everytime I see him, I ask if he's ready to part with it! So far, no luck! Here's the original photo of the one I...

    Axes & Hatchets

Greyman… very nice! I would love to find one of those.. unfortunately I live too far south. And yes, cleaning them up a bit can uncover some interesting marks. I think the secret is to lightly clean and not be in a hurry. I’ve seen some that folks have taken a grinder to them and removed all...

Thanks! I found the treatment for the curly maple online and is called “aquafortis”. It comes ready to use… it’s a reagent or type of stain. Rub it on and let it soak in and then apply heat with a heat gun… the lines in the curly maple “pop”. The nice thing is that the aquafortis liquid is...

    Attaching photos to private messages?

Still trying and can’t seem to make it work. I use my iPad for taking photos.. then log on to the forum, using the “go advanced”.. in other sections of the forum the “go advanced”is there with the paper clip. When using PM there’s no icon for the paper clip.
