    Missing my 629, sniff sniff

Did you try any of the aftermarket springs (main and rebound)? I bought a 629-4 with the aftermarket springs installed and I tell you, it is really smooth. Good luck with the work, I'd also be interested in hearing about how it turns out.

    S&W 686- Ammo/flame cutting

Thanks folks. To clarify, I was talking about 38 special with 130gr. Fmj projectiles. We spend all this money on guns, I just want to make sure I am not abusing my investments.

    S&W 686- Ammo/flame cutting

What is the general consensus on the use of 130 gr. factory ammo in the 686 or even the 627? Is this "too light" for the caliber? I have been reading about flame cutting and I think I read that if you use ammo that is too light, it will lead to back strap and forcing cone damage. Thanks

    jeffh01- Excellent to deal with!

I bought a Rem. 700 from Jeff (jeffh01). The gun came in as described, on time and well packed. Jeff went above and beyond with this deal. Great communication and honest dealings. I would buy from Jeff with confidence.

Thanks. I will shoot it when I get my hands on some ammo. Hopefully it functions perfectly. I will have to put the original springs in there.

    want a S&W 4" 44 Mag which one?

Yes, and a few weeks ago I got myself a JM Marlin built in 89...not a single shot through it (from all appearances)...

    want a S&W 4" 44 Mag which one?

If going with the 629, I would go with -2E and above. I have heard the lower dash numbers had issues with the full power 44mags. I'm not writing off all lower dash numbers, but that is what I have read in my search. I personally had a -1 that had issues, so out she went. I just got the -4, 5"...

    S&W 629-4

I bought a nice -4 that came with Wolff springs installed. It has the reduced power rib and a #13 rebound. To eliminate/reduce light strikes, can I switch the rebound spring to say #15 or #16? I have not shot this gun yet, but I hear there might be light strikes with commercial ammo. I would...

    New production S&W 41-

sweet! I like the idea of lifetime warranty which you don't get when you buy used.

    New production S&W 41-

Any guidance on the quality of the recent productions of S&W 41? I hear "older is better" when it comes to alot of guns. Is that true for the 41 as well? Or could one buy with confidence, even newly manufactured ones? I prefer to buy used, but would like to get a new 41 as I intend to keep it...

FS: 629-1 $650 shipped with extras!

Thanks for all the interest. Include in the price: Wood grips and a leather holster. I have a S&W 629-1 (6" barrel) that...

Can't Get Factory to Reply for Repair

Phone calls can be denied, emails are hard to deny. I always feel better getting information in writing. It is one thing to call (as I did the other day) and wait 15 minutes to talk to some, it is another thing to get an email from them that is hopefully well researched, thought out and I can...

Need a holster for my 686 Pro plus

I have a 686 4" which fits perfectly in the bianchi 5BH holster. I found the leather work to be excellent. And it was only $50 on Amazon.

What should I do? Are these costly repairs?

I was having light strikes on my 627 and all it took was tightening the screw on the bottom of the frame. Good luck!

    629 endurance package

Thanks guys. I have a gun that is going back to S&W for some minor work and was wondering if, while there, they could upgrade it with the endurance package. It appears that is not possible. Since I will not be using the gun with the heavy loads I won't worry about it.
