Correct target grip for M66-1 4"SB

My purchased 4" M66-1 came with football targets, purchased new 9/1981. The PD was issuing them to full time officers and they were in high demand... so it didn't linger in the case. The date is on the original bill of sale. 74K38XX

38 SPL 124gr Bayou Bullet RN

I use a spare 9mm sizer die as a "taper crimp" on slugs with no crimp groove. I have a boat load of hardcast 150 SWC intended for 38Super but work fine in 38/357.

    Would You??

Why don't you own it yet? It would be mine already. When my then financee` and I broke it off, she declined my offers to buy back the (hard to find) 3" M13 I had bought her. I consoled myself by buying a 3" M66-2 which I still have. A 3" round butt K frame is the best all around gun for so...

.38 Spl Snake Shot against Coyotes?

Yes to bee spray or bear spray. I used a walking stick a lot... I might be inclined to put a heavy, sharped base section on it.

    Shotgun Resurgence?

The PD I worked for issued 3" 12g 000 BUCK and slugs. I had my 20" Mossberg 500 with rifle sights, rear aperture removed to form a ghost ring. It carried 8 + 1 plug what I had in a carrier. Qualification sure was fun.

    Revolver Myths

A different 'myth' is a revolver will "always function". In one case I found my carry ammo wouldn't function when I switched from my 4" M19 to my new 4" M66-1. The SuperVels cratered the primers and tied the gun up but good... thankfully on the range. The second time was an advanced program...

    Activities in grizzly country

I have never encountered a grizzly but back when I was healthy enough for camping, I always figured on feeding him my Marlin 1895 45/70. Years ago there were some Marlin rifle only loads that are pretty memorable.

    The 'Thumbs-Forward' grip????

Originated, I couldn't begin to say who originated thumbs forward but I know Jeff Cooper promoted the thumbs forward in his DVD instructional set back in the 1970s? Being a 1911 man, the thumb was on top of the safety to prevent accidental engagement. Again, this doesn't address the origin...

    Belt slides and Yaqui style

I am very fond of the Avenger style holster that Bianchi sold as the Askins Avenger and have them for my 1911 & 39-2.. It gives good secure carry & pulls the butt in just enough to conceal with minimal leather. Retention is a tab over the hammer spur. I think the design would be improved with...

Anyone know what stainless alloy model 66 frames were made from?

Places that deal with scrap & salvaged material often have a machine which can tell what a sample is made of. I know that a piece of scrap propeller shafting that I turned into a small cannon barrel was made of some bronze alloy that gave my welder fits and he did have it scanned.

    Grips for a M67

I have smaller hands for a guy and I've long had the early "prerubber" Hogue grips on my 4" duty revolvers (M19-3, M66-1). When I first got them I thought they were the ugliest pieces of **** I'd ever seen. I reluctantly put them on the M19 and test fired it. Lets just say the loads were...

    Lined Holster

I hand made quite a few holsters with swede linings copying what was thought to be the best holsters of the day. I have concluded that a smooth interior is better for wear on the gun finish and better drawing. It can be rough out or a separate lining piece. Here's a rough out holster I made...

What was your first new-bought S&W revolver?

4" Model 19-4 bought new 1977, when I declined to carry the worn out Victory model loaner. Despite the lined holster, there's slight blue wear at the muzzle. I still have it. Carried until I located a 4" M66-1.

    spring open holster

One of our officers lost his M10 from a defective swivel holster. A civilian found it, picked it up gingerly... 2 fingers as I recall... and turned it over to the OIC (Officer In Charge). There was a lot of flack from that event. I never liked swivel holsters... swivels were prone to failures...

    cheap but does it work?

I have mainly older pistols with exposed front and back straps. I have used my Unimat mill to relieve under the grips panel edges. I then applied skateboard tape to the front / back areas and reinstalled the grip panels. The front strap done on my 1911A1. (S&W sights installed by Austin...

    3” 36

My 36-1 with factory targets is a splendid shooter and conceals just fine (grips and all) is a proper holster. Working a rare (for me) plainclothes detail (dress shirt, tie, preppie sweater) the OIC (Officer In Charge) had to ask me if I was armed. 3" is not going to pocket carry well.

    1970s Police Service Pistol question

When I started in 1976, the PD had begun issuing M66s but some M19s remained in service. As a part timer, I was offered a loaner Victory model 38 with 6 assorted RNL rounds. The timing was so bad it rattled badly when cocked, I doubted the safety of the piece. I opted to carry my nearly new...

    S&W .45 LC Model 1955

I think it is an attractive custom gun which wasn't available at the time it was built. Frames and parts... and skilled gunsmith labor were cheap back them. At one time, lot of 44 Magnums (unobtainable at the time) were built from parts on common and available M28 frames. I'd class this...

    Corona-Hysteria May Hinder Background Checks

In the tiny state of Rhode Island, the governor has enacted an Executive Order extending the waiting period from 7 days to "up to 30 days" because the Police Chiefs can't keep up with the paper work.
