From what I recently learned on this forum, you can't really overpay for any model 28.

When this started, I was looking for a double action .357 magnum with 4 inch barrel to use as a field gun. I looked at new guns, Ruger GP 100 and SP101 and the Smith and Wessons with the undesirable lock. Even with discounting by the time I paid sales tax I found prices would be above $600...

You guys are really helping me to unload my wallet. It doesn't look like I can go wrong no matter what I do. Yes, it will be a woods/range gun. When I fall down in the creek it won't matter, I'll just add a few more scratches on the nickeled gun. It was a LE gun.

Most all of the older guns I look at, S and W , Colt, Browning etc. seem somewhat over priced to me. So by the time I do research and think it over, they are gone. I guess there is always someone betting on continued appreciation.

Found a 4 inch blue for $650, 95%, a 4 inch that somebody nickeled for $500, in very good plus condition, and a NIB 6 inch for $700. What do you all think?

Need a lightweight carry gun. All my snubs are collectable and I hesitate to carry them. I like the Smith Airweights but every new one I have looked at in gun shops has had problems right from the factory. Any advice?
