    Smith 39-2 range report

Yep! I have known not do that (drop the slide on a round in the chamber) forever it seems, and have mentioned that to many people over the years. Also, I got a chance to shoot my 39-2 yesterday for the first time. I set up at 15 yards, from a rest (hands on bags, not the pistol). It shot a...

    Smith 39-2 range report

Nice shooting! I almost took my two new 39's out today. But I had other things to get done first. I did clean off all of the original oils, though. It had congealed, it actually looked like a thin coating of dried up grease. Brown and tacky. It was all over both guns. Slides, barrels, frames...

New to the forum and a 39-2

Factory mags (as were original to the 39 and 39-2) are pretty rare. Used ones are out there, but I don't think that anyone makes them to the original spec's any more. I just ordered 4 of these... Smith & Wesson Mag S&W 39 439 539 639 909 952 3904 3906 3944 3946 9mm ...knowing that they are...

    39-2 holster ideas?

I just went through my box of holsters, looking for a good fit for my two new 39's. I found that anything made (I have a few customs) for the Glock 19 (or 23!) fits like a glove. I have since added a laser guard to my G19, so my original custom leather holsters no longer work with it. But, it is...

    Got my 39-2

I got my pics up on this forum. NOT as good as the OP's picture. I'm working on that though. http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-semi-auto-pistols/440759-date-manufacturer-model-39-a.html#post138665887

Date of manufacturer for model 39

These two pistols haven't a mark on them, their finishes are perfect! I took them apart and found light assembly/dis assembly marks on the frame, very light marks on the slide and barrels where the bushings go on. Unbelievable!! The -2 has the heavy factory brownish grease on it yet! 39-1 39_2

S&W 41 recoil spring change advice

I had problems with my used 41 last year. The first attempt by S&W to correct the problem(s), was to send me a recoil spring...free. (It didn't correct the problems). It seems that the 41 is their flagship SA pistol. When I told them about the problems with my "used" pistol, they still sent me...

    New S&W 41

Sorry to hear about the problems. Did you buy a new 41 (new production and you are the original purchaser)? Or is it used? I bought a very lightly used, 1996 M41 and I had tons of problems. These happened after my initial 200-400 rounds.I sent it into S&W and the repaired the thumb safety. I...

    Got my 39-2

Congrats!! I am picking up my two "new" 39's tomorrow. Well, one is a 39 and the other is a 39-2. Both are 95%-98%. I can't wait.:p

Date of manufacturer for model 39

Well, I did it! Kind of. I called the LGS and paid for the 39 and the 39-2. I pick them up tomorrow. The 59 was gone, as was the model 28-2. I really wanted the 39's anyway. The 59 felt very large in my hand, which is very strange to me as I love the way my G21SF feels. Maybe it was just that...

Date of manufacturer for model 39

Thanks! The 27-2 is not one of the trade guns. But the Luger could be, the pre 36 is for sure. I'm 99% decided on the Colt, 22 conversion unit, and the Remington Rand. I really have no use for them any longer. I had the Colt appraised back in 2010. I was told that if I didn't shoot it any more...

The 3 autos look to be 95%-100%, to my mostly untrained eye. But very, very , VERY good condition, at least. All four guns have s/n'd boxes. Correct s/n's at that! EDIT: Thanks, for the '68 date!

Date of manufacturer for model 39

I've got a 27-2, 8 3/8" in a presentation case, never fired, papers and tools. I pd $700 for it 2 1/2 yr ago. I just can't bring myself to fire it. And I can't get rid of it...just yet. I have a line on a 4" 28-2 that has a painted front sight and you can tell it has been used, but gently. That...

They also have a 39-2 LNIB, s/n A298899w/papers and two mags for $450 Also, a model 59 LNIB, s/n A541738 w/two mags and papers. Did any of these autos come with "tools"? RCBS Customer Service

Heck, my brother gave me an RC2 (EDIT: RS2) press, that he inherited from his father-in-law. It was bought back in 1983. When I got it, the handle was missing. I called RCBS to purchase one. Telling them that the press was given to me. They took all of my shipping info, after I asked "how much"...

Win 231 to be discontinued in the future (not sure when)...

A few months back, about the time ANY pistol powders started to show up, my gun club Pro Shop had several 4 lb, and five 8 lb jugs of either 231 or HP-38. I picked up 4 lbs of 231 ($88). I found out late, about all of it. Then, two weeks later, more came in. I grabbed 8 lbs of HP-38 for $162...
