Nice pick up. It's possible you bought a FBI issued revolver. Those Pachmayr grips, with the cut out at the bottom to see the serial number were used on the last issued revolver to the FBI. I hope that's correct information.:) Enjoy.

Maybe the 6 1/2" no dash might fit in that category. Fortunately I have one, near mint.:)
