I was waiting for someone to mention the "new" grips. It cost me another three hours standing in a sweltering metal barn, but I was able to buy them for $2.50 at the same auction. Yep, there's a faint "2520" penciled on the inside of the right panel. :D It can pay off to go rooting around...

I've got a fair amount of "nice" stuff, but this is really my favorite condition grade. It's original and un-messed with, and has enough honest use that I don't have to feel bad or be overly cautious about taking it out and walking around the farm with it. I may have to blow some money over...

Here she is after a little TLC. The bore cleaned up much better than I expected...had about 100 years of lead and carbon in it. I think the "new" grips are much nicer than what she was wearing.

Nah, just a good, careful cleaning. Worn finish, to me anyway, is acceptable as "character" and tells the piece's story. Now, if it had been chopped, rebarreled, or previously refinished, I'd probably do a complete overhaul.

Yes, those sexy grips are already long-gone...I will find something more suitable for it to wear for the photo update after the cleanup tomorrow. I wonder if I should note the spider in the "special features" portion of the letter request form?

Hi Guys, My first TL. Unfortunately, I didn't get it for "farm auction" price, and it has been around the block a few (dozen) times, but I am tickled to own it. Finish appears completely original, bore is good enough that I have no doubt that it'll still spin bullets better than I can aim...

Bingo on the rifling pattern, alphelion...6-groove, narrow lands. Length from muzzle to frame is 7 3/8". The wait on this letter is gonna kill me.

The .45 Colt cylinder was installed when I bought it, but the loaded clip of ACP FMJ sitting on my desk "inspired" me to swap cylinders and use ACP for the test fire. Haven't live-fired the Colt cylinder yet, but timing/lockup was perfect so I anticipate no problems with it.

I just stepped out on the front porch (joys of living in the country) and went 2 for 6 standing/unsupported on a conspicuous cow pie that the range finder says is 142 yards out there...and excepting one trigger jerk, the rest were within a foot or so. I love it.
