Off Body Carry vs Inside Waistband. I NEED ADVICE

Off body... just too much to go wrong. On your belt, gun is in the same place every time with the same motion to access it every time. You're not going to forget to pick it up, you're not going to leave it anywhere and no one is going to steal it. Weapon mounted light? Never been convinced...

    How do you carry?

OWB is for the range for me. Too warm here for even a light jacket... I'm too young to wear a photographers vest.

New reason to dislike mag disconnect

Thank you for the offer. I may well take you up on that.

    Common Sense Self Defense.

Same here. All day every day. Hence the conversation. There is a way to go... call police and ask to speak to the duty sergeant. Explain the situation and point out that these are not people you are comfortable approaching. If that doesn't work, neighbors need to call as well and at some...

    Most Versatile M&P

Standard M&P 9. Can compete with it, carry concealed, cheapest effective ammo... home defense and in extreme circumstances it makes a very effective paperweight.

New reason to dislike mag disconnect

The problem was not a mechanical one. To actually have that as a reason not to have a magazine disconnect rather than train people to fully insert their magazines is baffling.

Confront him non aggressively. I have a banger type neighbour, and my approach initially was made with a cup of tea in one hand and a cigarette in the other so I wasn't giving out anything that could be construed as aggression. It's hard for someone to act the hard man against someone drinking...

New reason to dislike mag disconnect

I have exactly the same damn thing. My gun is crazy dirty, hasn't been cleaned in I don't know how many rounds and it's been used for holster making and fitting so it probably needs a detail strip and clean at this point. I refuse to do a detail strip and clean myself, I'm the person that...

Any appendix holsters for the Shield?

This fella ended up as an appendix carry holster... the clip on ones seem to work well. Single point attachment, but a solid one. I know some people prefer a little more flex.

    Common Sense Self Defense.

I have met a few people that have cited carrying a gun has changed how they react with people simply based on the fact that any encounter is now an armed encounter. Who the hell wants to have to shoot someone over something that started as an argument of a parking space or something stupid? By...

If the training was free, would you go?

I would be more worried about other people not taking it so serious... Except one aspect is that cost of ammo is actually skin in the game. Enough? I don't know. It's an interesting idea.

UPDATED I've Decided To Stop Rotating My Carry Guns.

Those living somewhere seasonal, I can understand going from full size to something smaller for summer... but that transition should have a lot of repetitions both at home and at the range.

UPDATED I've Decided To Stop Rotating My Carry Guns.

Beware the man with one gun... For he is either poor and desperate or really knows how to use it... Sometimes you have to modify a quote for realism.

More evidence that training is not a MUST.

The bottom line is that training increases your odds of survival. It far from eliminates them. It also drops your odds of making a mistake... but doesn't eliminate them. Stacking odds in your favor is a rule to live by.

More evidence that training is not a MUST.

I dunno... I see your point, but at least the least trained "professional" is shown how to unload a firearm. Man Shoots Gun Into Neighbors House To Unload.

More evidence that training is not a MUST.

That's why the first line of my post was: If you restrict a right by putting a level of competence to be attained before allowing people to exercise that right... it is no longer a right. Driving a car is not a right. It's just being used to make a point about personal responsibility. My...

    Help Needed: M&P 9c Issues

Bear in mind... 1-2000 rounds in a gun is nothing. When is the recoil spring supposed to be replaced? On the FS M&P I believe it's at 5000 rounds. Let's assume it's the same for the compact. I would take it to 4000 rounds and see what it's like. If it's better, I would leave it there and maybe...
