I think model 34’s are just too small for me…..

I bought a 4” square butt 34 in 1984 ($169) and while I really liked it I also felt it was to small and I have average hands. but the pawn shop I got it from needed it back because they were notified it was stolen. They gave me $450 credit in the store.so I chose a 4 3;4” nickel 1966 Colt SAA...

    S&W 1854 Rifle

Do you mean the Volcanic lever action? I think Oliver Winchester bought the patents from S&W (or something like that) then later he had B. Tyler Henry (?) use it as a model for the Henry rifle which fired loaded cartridge cases. as opposed to the Volcanic where I think the powder charge was in...

Holsters Makers: Hermann H. Heiser Archive

I've found many holster treasures looking through gun shop junk holster and parts boxes including this Heiser holster for an artillery Luger. At $25 it was more expensive than I'm used to. But a Luger collector bought it at a massive profit. I only knew what it was for because "Luger" was...

    Model 56

A local consignment only gun shop has a Model 56 which I never heard of before. Then I found this older thread. The guys there are very sharp so I knew it wasn’t a misprint model number on the price tag. The price was somewhere north of five grand.

Holsters Makers: Hermann H. Heiser Archive

I have a beautiful Colorado Saddlery double belt that exhibits carving that’s as good as I’ve ever seen. I only mention it here because this company was founded by former Heiser employees and comparisons might be obvious. I bet the person who carved this belt also did some of the Heiser holsters...

    New Winchester-Miroku 1892 Carbine

What I like about the modern 92s pictured here with pistol grips is that the wrist and lever have a pronounced curve to them. The Uberti 73 rifles (which are beautiful) have pistol grips way far back that look totally cosmetic to me. And the levers look straight like a regular 73. My .44-40 1892...

My 2-1/2" 19-4 new (to me) stocks

It is a little out of proportion visually, but I can tell it must feel great when shooting. I bought the exact 19-4 a couple years ago and put factory round butt Diamond grips on it, along with a shiny T-grip.

    New Winchester-Miroku 1892 Carbine

The used Browning/Miroku .44 B92 I got about 38 years ago had a scope on it but I took it off instantly because it was off center and I’m left handed. I liked it scopeless anyway. This gun is very high quality as of course the newer Winchesters. It has no tang safety but sadly no saddle rig...

    Colt revolver grips

They look like they are for a Colt Police Positive .38 S&W and I think also the later Police Positive Special (.38 Special) which has a wider grip frame in profile than the earlier Police Positive. My gun is in front of me and the measurements look dead on. My gun is 1928 P.P. and came with...

Weird finish on S&W Model 10

I think Metaloy was the company I saw an article about in a 1973 or so Guns & Ammo Annual.

Weird finish on S&W Model 10

It resembles the Electroless finish on my 1980 Python which might have been done for Colt by a Texas company called Nitex. Run by a guy named Ed House. In an early 70s G&A Annual I have there was another company who did this.

    Custom Leathersmiths on the Forum

Here’s a Mexican style double buckle two gun rig I made just for the fun of it and one of those holsters on the one and only money belt I ever made. I just had to try it once. Both lined belts made of the same heavy but rather soft leather and very comfortable.

A tick bite kept me out of surgery

I found it in my leg a day after spending two days in the Sierra foothills. I had never dealt with ticks before, but I knew those were little legs sticking out of there. Then the bright red little circle developed around it with slight aching and the area developed a kind of hard lump under it.

A tick bite kept me out of surgery

Last week I found a tick burrowed in my thigh. I cleaned it out then soon after my jaw and neck started hurting to the point it was hard to swallow or open my mouth. I went to urgent care and got meds for the bite and x ray for my jaw. My jaw got so bad I went to Emergency at 3;00AM, incorrectly...
