California Gun Specialties Inc. Lindsay CA

I was asking if anyone knew of this business, and exactly what they did. I searched, and could not find anything about them.

    Progress on Digitizing

In the past few years, I have seen progress on digitizing the S&W records up to certain years. I believe this info was used a lot in the making of Historical Foundation letters, or maybe what is now seen as a 'deep dive' into the past of certain guns. I wonder how far they are along now, as I...

How Many '1988 Special' Model 66-3 Were Made?

While looking through the new 5th edition of the Standard Catalog, I see a mention of a 3" model 66-3 that they refer to as a 1988 Special, if I am reading that correctly. I have this one pictured here with the box and tools that I bought used several years ago to complete my Model 66...

    Got My Model 53 Letter

I hope I am in the right category here, As my Model 53 "Jet" is a 4-screw, but was shipped in January 1962 according to the S&W letter. The reason I sent for a letter is because I was curious if my handgun was one of those shipped with the optional 22LR cylinder. Since there was no mention in...

Frame Markings on a Model 36

Other than the assembly number, does anyone know what these frame markings are on a Model 36?

Serial numbers on 1962 Model 36

I have an early 1962 model 36. An S&W letter says it was shipped to the NYPD in that year. The serial number is stamped on the butt of the frame and on the inside of the RH stock, but no where else. Shouldn't it be stamped on the barrel and the cylinder? The frame has no stamps on it going...

    SWCA Dues Renewal Date

I am a member of the SWCA and have kept up with my dues. I am wondering where to look to find my renewal date.

S&W or Repros Smooth Targets ?

I have this set of K-Frame stocks which I cannot identify their maker. On the inside is a faint ink-stamp of the date "JUN 26 1986". Another collector told me that S&W ink-stamped their stocks that were made for their sales store, and not sold on a handgun. No way to verify that. These could...

**SOLD** John Hurst Grips - K-Frame

I have two sets of stocks that were made by John Hurst. These were from a model 19 that had been used by a State Trooper. One set has a hole in the front to allow access to the strain screw. I don't know if Mr. Hurst made this hole, or if it was done later. See the Pictures. I have fairly...

    Are These John Hurst Grips?

I got these grips on a Model 19 that I bought about 20 years ago. They were from a former State Highway Patrolman and included the extra pair which has a hole in the front to reach the strain screw.

    About the "Transitionals"

I just got my Summer 2023 SWCA Journal, and noticed a well-written article About transitional .357 magnums. I have a 38/44 Outdoorsman that I have been told is a "transitional" (Serial S70421) and Dr Roy Jinks says it was shipped in January, 1947. I posted about 3 years ago (see link below)...

    Letter on Model 36

I just received my letter that I requested on a Model 36 no-dash. It looks to have been shipped in March 1962 to the New York police department in a shipment of 100 guns. I wonder how many total of these Chiefs Specials went to that department over the years. My earlier post with pictures is...

    I vs J Frame Hammers

I was wondering if anybody knows if a standard J frame hammer, like a model 36, would fit an extended I frame, like a Terrier?

    Question on Terrier

This weekend I picked up this Pre 32-Terrier with a broken hammer. All the numbers, 78191, match including the stocks. No model number inside the yoke. I believe this to be the "Improved I-Frame". Now I need to look for a period correct hammer. My question is will a J-Frame hammer, like from...

    Patent No's on Grip Adapter

I have a set of pre-war grip adapters for a K-Frame which I just received from a fellow member. They are pictured here on the left next to a set for the N-Frame. You can clearly see the difference in size on the 'shelves' next to the round buttons. They both have the same patent number. I have...

    ID Stocks, Please

I just bought a plastic bag full of stocks. There is a nice set of football N-Frames in there which is probably worth twice what I paid for the whole bag. Now here are two pair of after market sets which I don't know the maker of. Maybe Thailand. I have seen that deep "K" in stocks before, but...

    Question on K-22

This may be a simple question (or not), but when did S&W make the first K-22? Pretty sure that is not a model number, but rather a "class" of certain revolvers built on the K-Frame in the 22 caliber.

    Withdrawn - Model 58 Barrel

This barrel looks to be brand new, but I bought it from an individual so I won't advertise it that way. It is perfect. The pictures show dust; those are not scratches. I looked to see if anyone had these for sale to see what prices they had, and only found used ones. So my price is $150...

    Model 58 With SS

I picked up this nice M58 today. It is a little unusual as it has Stainless hammer and trigger, both wider than the standard. I also got the original hammer and trigger to go with it. Numbers on the stocks match the serial. I thought I would immediately be changing the hammer/trigger back to...

Got My Letter on Victory 2" Model

About 4 months ago I posted here saying that I had located (and now purchased) a Victory model with a 2" barrel. I got a lot of good response and I sent for a letter of Authenticity. Well I got the letter, and have attached it here. Mr Jinks was also kind enough to send a copy of the shipping...
