    Mysterious old M&P Target

Huge thanks to Mike for the process of this dream gun coming into my hands. Some may know what this is, but I can say that I had no idea these existed until Mike showed me his. Even after seeing them, and him explaining, and seeing the letters... somehow the extreme rarity meant that I would...

    Gunshow .455 Triplelock!

Been after this puppy for a while. Problem is, every one I found was either $All.The.Money$ or had a shaved cylinder. Today God smiled on me and I had the cash, and the gun I wanted was right there. Wearing the wrong grips. As is protocol. Going to need a cleaning, but I rummaged around in...

Mystery Grips! (Old K-Frame, marked K-22)

Been a while since I bought grips, this set has me kind of excited. They seem to have some age. It appears that they shrunk over the years, the backstrap is exposed, but they were made for a K-frame. I am guessing the screw hardware fell out when they shrunk. But as you can see in the...

    Ernest Hemmingway's .38-44!

Didn't get any guns in all of 2023, which was sad. But boy did I break that dry streak in a big way. I don't have a lot of time to go into details. Have to drive a kid to swimming lessons, but I snapped a couple pictures. I'll have more details later. But I'm sure such a famous gun is already...

    Anyone like mechanical watches?

Been hitting garage sales and thrift shops a lot lately. No real guns to speak of (kids have put a real damper on that budge), but I can buy cheap things second hand. Last 2 garage sale seasons and off season thrift shopping has resulted in what I have to now admit is a collection. Prior to...

1911 Grips (Christmas gift to myself)

Snagged these off of ebay, they are fat, feel good, are a nicely carved set of home mades, and go well on my WW1 Remington Frame / Ithaca Slide / High Standard Barreled for WW2 and maybe Korea use 1911. Actually one of the first guns I ever bought, was a good deal even 15 years ago at $400.

    N-Frame Grip Adapter Pricing

Ebay auction just finished up; Winning bid:US $1,300.00 I've kept an eye on these over the years and I don't think I've seen one go this high. And this one isn't even pristine. The other interesting thing is that it looks like there were bidders on it in the ~$900 range before two people...

"THE GREEK" - Chopped HBH M&P Target!

Originally a 6" Target, with the HBH. Now it is this: Some of you got to handle this at the Symposium, for others; what are your thoughts? I should note that the front/rear sights are Ivory. Rib is Brass. Stocks are Ivory. Looks like I will need to bust out the better camera too...

    Commercial 1917 Gunshow find

Did a gunshow, had to buy this at $549. Bit o' rust on the butt, missing the lanyard loop, but otherwise all good. Excellent action. All matching. The S/N is 178433 Not sure how much interest there is in these commercial guns. I find them very neat, and I figure this one will be a hoot to...

    King Equipped Pre-War Kit Gun

I don't buy guns very often these days. So I am pretty jazzed about this one. S/N 531103 so it should be a real one, and not another virtual like my other 4" 22/32. Of course, I say that, and I have a Diamond B under the barrel and on the Frame. So maybe I ended up with another Virtual that...

    Iron Frame, i.e. S&W "Volcanic"

It's time to see if someone else wants to be the caretaker of this wonderfully rare piece. I've enjoyed it immensely, but it doesn't really fit into my current interests, and with small kids, well, its going to be a while before I get back into guns properly. $16,500 We can work out shipping...

No money for guns because kids, so now...GOLD

Well, mostly silver. Anyway. I'm always at garage sales and thrift shops trying to get out ahead of my wife's facebook feed, which tells her she needs to buy absurdly expensive clothing for our kids, so if I can stay one step ahead of facebook and just have whatever it is telling her to buy...

I don't usually ask, but Price Check; 22/32 HFT?

I can't sort out a fair price on this gun. Comparable guns just aren't for sale in the usual places I look, nor have any sold in quite a while that I can find. The gun itself is very high condition, and all correct: It also lettered to going directly to an individual: The prices for the...

The fabled S&Ws (TLs, RMs, K32s, etc), overhyped?

This is a question for those of you who have managed to get your mitts on some of these fabled guns. The ones that you have to get lucky to own, or have a pretty good pile of cash and sometimes years of patient looking to find the right gun. Guns such as; K32 Registered Magnum Triple Lock...

    Long Tube .32

Did a gunshow this weekend, it was great. As usual I couldn't escape without having bought something. It's just so dang hard not to toss out a price when looking at an old smith sometimes. In this case at $225 I knew this would be a honey of a shooter at very worst. I'm not a nickel gun guy...

Did you ever harpoon your white whale?

Years ago now I harpooned a white whale of mine, an iron frame (Serial Number B 54). For years it was out of my hands because life happened and I decided that money for the family was probably more important than owning a white whale. So the gun went into the hands of my good friend Bruce...

    Interpreting Internet Auction Pictures

I just wanted to start a thread to run through the information that can be gleaned from even bad internet auction pictures. Point out what to look for and why. It's pretty hard in many cases to know that something is wrong, or a problem, without having had a gun in hand after looking at online...

    I bagged a Pale Whale of mine - Browning 92 .357!

I've been after this dang thing forever. I haven't been buying guns really for a while, but I dropped by a local gun shop to show off pictures of our brand new kiddo and there it sat. It's gold trigger saying to me; "Ask about me, you know you should, you've been picking up every lever gun that...

    Atrocity Modifications

This is a thread for the sharing of once fine S&W revolvers who found their way into the hands of the worst kind of gun plumber. That spent time in the foul lair of this guy, and emerged deformed and grotesque. It is also a thread I hope to be educational, if you post a gun point out why the...

    .44 Magnum Blue/Black Presentation Case?

I don't generally buy boxes, but this one was at the gunshow for $75 and I knew just enough to realize that it may be a decent home for my pre-model 29 with a wee bit of effort on my part. Can you guys school me on this? I understand that the hardware can date the box? From what little I have...
