    Relief factor opinions

I have a hip that’s getting sore and accasionally the pain extends lower down the leg. It was no biggy months ago. A couple aspirins or ibuprofen made it go away. I may need a hip transplant in the future but it may be a form of sciatica also. I thought I’d try this relief factor and see if it...

I might be a turtle whisperer

If I see a box turtle in the road I’ll stop and move it well off the road. I passed one the other day thinking I’d get it on the way back in a few minutes. Well, it was still there, but run over. I hate seeing that. Mind you, these are back roads and not heavily trafficked ones. I...

I need to send my wife gun shopping

She has a thrift shop or two that she occasionally stops at. She came home today with three pairs of brand new Wrangler jeans in my size that cost $2 each! She said there’s more and asked if I wanted a couple more. Of course I said heck yeah! I’ve been know to abuse some jeans with tractor...

My wife proved that I don’t know everything

She asked if I knew that some appreciative French bring sand from the beaches of Normandy during the anniversary each year and make a slurry that they rub into the crosses, all 9,386 of them, to highlight the names with the gold hue of the sand. I thank them for their show of respect. ( I...

    UFOs….Is the truth out there?

I’ve been watching some of the congressional hearings on UFOs. It’s been 50 years since the the last investigations. I wonder if they’ll be more forthcoming this time. They appear more open minded about it now, but no shattering evidence revealed yet.

    Great little trailer trip

Just got back from a week in the mountains NW of Lexington, Va. Douthat state park. Nice hiking trails and trout water. They stock the lake twice a week in season with a 6 trout limit which is not hard to do. Brook, Rainbow and Browns. Some 10-12”” and more than a couple of pounds. The creek...

    Call me confused, but….

I see that at least one manufacturer is infusing tungsten into their polymer frames to add weight. From a few ounces originally to almost a pound with the tungsten! I don’t get it. Why not make it out of steel or at least aluminum if you want to make it heavier? I imagine it’s all about the...

    Tilling time

We’re going to break ground and till the tomato gardens this weekend. I hope the frost is done for us but it’s been crazy weather lately. Pushing 90 for a day or two then 32 with frost warnings! We try to wait until Derby day which is usually safe. Going to gamble and push it up a week. The...

    Airlines today

I’ve never had a more difficult time booking a flight two months out. They’ve lost two paid itineraries and to book the third there is an $800 increase. All within 4 hours today. Needless to say but I put them on STBY. I don’t want to say the airline, AAlthough they are one of the largest...

    Agency ID for the LEOs

I have a P&R 2.5” model 66 with this stamp. The fellow I bought it from said he was an Air Marshal, don’t know if current or retired. I would assume retired since they don’t go around advertising that fact usually. If he was and this was his gun, it must have been a while ago. If it’s not an...

    Stretching leather help

I have a new belt holster that works great except for the thumb strap. It’s too short by 1/2” or more from reaching the snap. I know you can stretch leather but I’m not sure about the best way to stretch that much without doing harm. Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Having no luck

Finding an OWB kydex holster for an M&P 9 compact 2.0 4” barrel with a streamlight TLR7. I see the 3.5” compact and maybe a couple with different lights but nothing for that combo. I’m not looking for someone to do my searching, I’ve been searching but finding nothing and I don’t need another...

    To those owned by dogs

One of the latest Liberty ins. commercials features ‘Doug’ blowing on a bird whistle call. It drives our dogs crazy which drives us crazy racing to find the remote to mute it. Anybody else with dogs experiencing that? My wife emailed the company and asked them to quit airing that commercial...

    Playoffs

They have been something. 3 won in the last few seconds with field goals and the last won in overtime after back and forth leads in the last few minutes of regulation. I’m only sorry the Packers couldn’t pull theirs off.

Anybody had a fever due to booster?

I figured I’d get the booster and while there, treat me like a human pincushion and get the flu shot too. It’s put me on the couch for a couple of days with a fever running up to high 102 then normal then back up. Tired too. Took a home Covid test which was negative. I’ll give it one more day...

A couple more celestial events this month

Starting Dec. 10 for the rest of the month Jupiter, Saturn and Venus will line up under the moon every night from left to right. And, while that’s going on the best meteor shower of the year, the Geminids, peaks on Dec.13 and 14th. Expect 100-150 meteors per hour. I hope those two nights are...

    Ok, first round is done…

I’ve stuffed myself and headed to the couch for round two, but wait….the Bears and the Lions? Aaww. Well, at least one of them is finally going to win. On to the next round then. Nap time! I’ll get that out of the way and watch Dallas later.

Purse carry advice for my wife

My wife is getting her CCW and thinks purse carry would work best for her. I know there are many choices, of which I am not experienced with, and wonder what has worked best for those who have chosen to carry that way. She’s small statured, 5’2”, and will be carrying a S&W 642. I’m hoping...

    Lunar eclipse tonight

For those insomniacs out there it’s the longest eclipse in close to 600 years. Starts at 02:00 eastern and is at its fullest around 04:00 eastern. I believe there will be a tiny sliver of the moon visible at 0:400 when it starts to return from a red hue to a full moon. I’ll set an alarm to...
