    I am looking at an early production 686 ND. Between the serial number and the model number on the frame there is a 'M' stamped. The 'M' looks to be be the same font as the letters in the serial number. What does this 'M' mean?

    Frame Symbols

    Attached are two pictures showing markings on the frame of my Model 66-1. In the picture 2321a the number 39574 I believe is the shop assembly number as it is also on the yoke and the last two numbers are on the handles. But what do the other stampings stand for?

    Model 66 Cylinder Movement

    I spent sometime today cleaning my new-to-me 197x's Model 66-1. I noticed the cylinder had a movement of 0.020" along the horizontal direction when the cylinder/yoke was swung out of the frame. Is this amount of movement/looseness acceptable? I don't believe my N frames have this much.

    House Fire "Victim"

    I have my Grandfather's gun that was in a house fire that total burned the house to the ground back in the 1920's. The moving parts are pretty seized together. What do you with a gun in that condition. It is a S&W 32 Hand Ejector, 32 Long, S/N 286145, probably from 1921.

    CSX Trigger 7 lbs
