    1950jcb is tops!

Just completed a deal with Jim and am very happy. A very easy man to deal with, even when the buyer messes some things up... And of course the gun is exactly as described - perfect. 1950jcb is A1. If you don't believe me just do a search here! :D Thanks, Jim! -- Sam

    WTS/WTT: S&W 27-2 in OR -- SOLD!

Gun is SOLD; Thanks for looking! I'm offering up for sale my S&W 27-2 .357 magnum with 8-3/8" barrel. This is a beautiful gun and comes as close to a "safe queen" as anything I own. I've only shot about 25-50 rounds out of it, and it came to me in nearly pristine condition. It comes with...

    WTB/WTT in OR: 624 or other .44 Spcl, 6" -- FOUND ONE!

Found one, thanks for looking! I'm looking for a S&W 624, 24 or other .44 Special, in a 6" Target configuration. Prefer older guns with hammer mounted firing pins. Not interested in lock-equipped model 21s. I have a very nice 27-2 (.357 mag N frame) with a 8-3/8" barrel that I'd be willing...

Question on M&P .45 TALO edition model

To answer my own question: Apparently that model does not have the thumb safety. I didn't realize it was an ambi safety and would be visible on the gun in the pic if it were included. And I'm assuming you can't easily add one. But I also don't know if I care any more... -- Sam

Question on M&P .45 TALO edition model

Can anyone tell me if the model number 150603 TALO edition, the .45 model with the 10 and 14 round mags (top one here) has the external safety or not? If not, I don't suppose you can add the external safety to the non-equipped model easily... Just thought I'd ask. Thanks in advance, -- Sam

PMs received and replied to. Thanks for all the tips. Those Ahrends Bananas look just about perfect. -- Sam

    Yet another grip thread

I've got Hogues on several guns and most aren't bad (at least one set had a terrible fit), but was hoping for other suggestions. I also can't find anyone with the Hogues in stock, and it can take ages to order from them (BTDT, too). -- Sam

    Yet another grip thread

Howdy all, I'm trying to find a specific style of grips for a round butt N-frame (624 Lew Horton, to be precise) and am having a heck of a time finding ones that are "just right". I'd like a nice hand filling grip that still conforms to the round butt, maybe slightly extended ala one of Craig...

Concealment holster for an N frame?

I've decided to go with a Simply Rugged Sourdough Pancake. Between the construction techniques and the available "inside/out loops" that allow it to be worn OWB or IWB, it gave me the flexibility I was looking for at a reasonable price. Lobo was a real close second, fwiw. It should be here...

Concealment holster for an N frame?

Thanks Dave. How is the balance, for lack of a better word, for a holster that rides that high? I was thinking that the heavy cylinder and grip sticking up above the belt mounting point would tend to make it flop around more. I assume the leather has to be extra stiff to make this work. I...

Concealment holster for an N frame?

Bob R, thanks so much for the generous offer! I sent you a PM. Thanks to others, too. There's a lot of nice stuff out there. -- Sam

Concealment holster for an N frame?

Thanks. I tried tucking the (unloaded) gun into my waistband without a holster, and I guess it's not too bad after all. I do tend to prefer IWB since it gives good support. I'll continue my search... -- Sam

Concealment holster for an N frame?

I want to start carrying my 3" 624. It's a big sucker, and 37 oz in weight. I use Rafter-S belts, and am going to need a good holster. I usually use an IWB with my semi autos, even the full size ones (Andrews Leather MacDaniel II is a favorite). I'm not sure this is a viable option with the...

Pachmayr Presentation grips on a round butt?

Thanks, Ed. I've got a set of Spegels on a 25-5 square butt, and like them. I was thinking I wanted rubber on this gun, but may look into more wood. -- Sam

Pachmayr Presentation grips on a round butt?

I'm thinking about putting a set of Pachys on a N frame round butt, and can't decide between the Decelerators and the Presentation grips. I've got Decelerators on another gun, and know they're acceptable, but I think the Presentations look nicer (duh). I'm concerned that they might turn my...

Carrying and shooting the 396 Night Guard

Thanks for all the replies! That's what I've come to love about the .44 Special. Thanks again. Though it looks like my choice has been made, and I found a 3" 624 that I'm going with, rather than the L-framed 396. -- Sam

    624 holster sizing

Thank you all for the info. Yep, it's the 3". I'll check with the two mentioned. I have an EPS for another gun, and it's a good holster for the price. Was also looking at Fist, who don't advertise for 3" guns, but will make for them if ordered. -- Sam

    624 holster sizing

I'm looking to get a holster for a 3" 624. I haven't gotten the gun yet so I can't measure it myself: Is the size of the cylinder across N frames pretty much the same? I have a 25-5 and a 27-2 and they both have the same size cyl, and I'm assuming the .44s would too, but you know what happens...

    Model 19 front lock sticking

I have a nickel 19-3 and the front lock sometimes doesn't want to disengage smoothly. I've inspected it and the lock pin itself appears to move freely, as does the inner portion of the ejector which actuates it. It's almost as though that actuator rod inside the ejector isn't quite long...
